Re: Site Inspection and Foundation Recommendations
Location: 2014 Caleta Court
Carlsbad, CA.
A representative of our firm has made a field review of the above
referenced project. The project consists of remodeling an existing
single family residence. Little or no grading was planned for this
site and the final results are, that only minor cuts of 8" or less
were made and no fill has been placed.
d
The soil conditions on site are found to be medium dense to dense
sandy clays and silts and are moderately expansive to expansive
in nature. The minimum foundation design shall be 15" wide by 24"
deep with four #5 rebars (2 top and 2 bottom) continuous to be drill-
ed and doweled into exisitng footings. All slabs are to have sand,
visqueen and a mat of #3 rebar at 24" centers installed. Also note
that slab areas and footings are to be kept in a moist condition
of sand, vapor barrier or concrete.

Re: Soils Recommendations
Location: 2014 Caleta-Court_--b-- __ - - Carlsbad, CA.
A representative of our firm has made a field review of the above
referenced project. The project- consists of remodeling an existing
single family residence.
We have reviewed the soils investigation performed by Benton Engin-
eering dated December 8, 1964. Because of the nature of the remodel- ing and necessary grading is minimal, it is not practical to in- vestigate the soils conditions at this time. We will supervise the grading and excavation work as it progresses and make recommenda- tions at that time. The recommendations will include removing and recompacting unsuitable soils and making footing and foundation recommendations.
