As stated in my letter of March 11, 1983, to Ms. Adrian Landers of the Planning Department, we promise to make the Roen lot a legal parcel with proper set-backs by either easement (non-revocable) or sale of property from the Central States Pension Fund. However, we understand that in the event that property cannot be acquired, our only option would be to obtain a variance from the Planning Commission, that there is no guarantee that this would be approved, and if not, the addition would be subject to removal. Staff has confirmed past approvals for similar requests in the area and is prepared to support that submitted by Mr. Roen. I Your letter indicates confidence that a lot line adjustment will be made by either a non-revocable easement or sale of sufficient land to make the lot conform to all City set back requirements. I am aware of the urgency of your request and in this instance will authorize the issuance of a permit for an addition at the subject property. There are others, ??ut I do not have the records available at this time. We promise to make the Roen lot a legal parcel with proper set-backs by either easement (non-revocable) or sale of property from the Central States Pension Fund, who are the lenders to La Costa Hotel and Spa, of which Mr. Roen is Chairman of the Board.
