NOTE: The items listed below are from the previous correction list. These remaining
items have not been adequately addressed. The numbers of the items are from the
previous check list and may not necessarily be in sequence. The notes in bold font are
current.
1. Please make all corrections, as requested in the correction list. Submit FOUR new
complete sets of plans for commercial/industrial projects (THREE sets of plans for
residential projects). For expeditious processing, corrected sets can be submitted in one
of two ways:
1. Deliver all corrected sets of plans and calculations/reports directly to the City of
Carlsbad Building Department, 1635 Faraday Ave., Carlsbad, CA 92008, (760) 602-2700.
The City will route the plans to EsGil Corporation and the Carlsbad Planning, Engineering
and Fire Departments.
2. Bring one corrected set of plans and calculations/reports to EsGil Corporation, 9320
Chesapeake Drive, Suite 208, San Diego, CA 92123, (858) 560-1468. Deliver all
remaining sets of plans and calculations/reports directly to the City of Carlsbad Building
Department for routing to their Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments.
NOTE: Plans that are submitted directly to EsGil Corporation only will not be reviewed by
the City Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments until review by EsGil Corporation is
complete.
2. The minimum required conductor size is 3 AWG. The limiting factor is the
termination per GEO 110.14(0)1 (60°); #3 can be used only if you can show that all
terminations from the load center to the service is rated 75° and higher. Please
correct the single line.
Chad, I emailed a copy of the page of the White Book that discusses termination. I
realize that it's a bit difficult to tie the requirement in with the installation
instruction that you sent me in your response. I suppose the thing to remember is
that the manufacturer can say what ever they wish, i.e. to use conductors of any
temperature rating, however, they also say to "carry out all electrical installations
according to all applicable standards and the NEC." The UL White Book is the
standard. Please correct the size of the conductor.
4. To speed up the review process, note on this list (or a copy) where each correction item
has been addressed, i.e., plan sheet, note or detail number, calculation page, etc.
