ACCESSIBILITY FOR REMODELS, ADDITIONS, AND REPAIRS
'The following disabled access items are taken from the 2016 edition of California Building
Code. Per Section 1.9.1.2, all privately funded public accommodations and commercial
facilities shall be accessible to persons with disabilities.
Where existing elements or spaces are altered, each altered element or space shall
comply with applicable requirements of Division 2, including CBC section 11 B-202.4. CBC
section 11 B-202.4 states that when alterations or additions are made to existing buildings,
an accessible path of travel to the specific area of alteration shall be provided. See
exceptions to 11 B-202.4.

10. Provide an updated door schedule for the egress and restroom doors showing
that they meet the requirements for size and hardware type. Show which doors
have latches and/or closers. The door schedule on sheet A2 appears to have a
printing error. CBC 1010.1.1, 1010.1.9.
Provide a note stating, "Door handles, pulls, latches, locks and other operating
devices on doors required to be accessible by Chapter I 1A or 1 1B shall not
require tight grasping, tight pinching or twisting of the wrist to operate". CBC
1010.1.9.1.
Provide a note stating, "The required means of egress illumination levels shall not
- 'be less than 1 foot-candle at the walking surface". CBC 1008.2.1.

NON-RESIDENTIAL GREEN BUILDING STANDARDS
(Additions and Alterations)
The California Building Standards Commission (BSC) has adopted the Green Building
Standards Code and must be enforced by the local building official. The Green Building
Standards apply to nonresidential additions or tenant improvements throughout
California. These standards apply to nonresidential additions of 1,000 sq. ft. o
larger or alterations (tenant improvements) with a value of $200,000 or more.
CGC Section 301.3. Provide a sheet on the plans labeled "Green Building Code
Ri~quirements and include the following notes as applicable.
~0:,'- Bicycle parking. Note on the plans that bicycle parking for projects shall comply
with CGC Section 5.106.4. The specific details must be submitted and approved
by the Planning Department.
