Our interpretalion of Article 300, 1) Section 300,22 (a) applies to a ptenurn used to wansport dust, loose stock, flammable vapors or vèniilârrnn of commercial cooking equipment. NO WIRING OF ANY TYPE is /' PERMITTED. lo If the duct or plenum is specifically fabricated to trønsport enviro=enml air, such as heat, air conditioning or other non-combustible air, Section .300.22 (b) applies and the use of Flexible Metal Conduit and Liquidsight Flexible Metal Conduit shall be permitted in lengths not to exceed V - 4 feet to connect physically adjustable equipment permitted to be in the ducts or plenum chambers. Section 300.(c), OTBR SPACES TJSZD FOR9,14VIRONMENTAL AIR, allows the use of AC, ACO, MC and Flexible Metal Conduit, without any restrictions on length. an a space not described in (a) or (b) above. The use of Liquidtight Flexible Metal Conduit is also permitted in single lengths not to exceed 6 feet. A fine print note to 300,22(c) states, the space over a hung ceiling used for environmental air handling purposes is an example of the type of "other: space" to which Section 300.22(c) applies. An exmnple of the environmental air-handling in this area could be a duct system installed in the void space. This would isolate the environmental air from the electrical system. Finally, Section 300.22 (d) and Section 645.5 (d) cover Data Processing/Computer Rooms. Al) ALFLEX products are permitted in the underflóonngarea if the ventilation in the underfloor area is used for the data processing equipment and the data processing area only. Attached are copics of the above mentioned articles.
