Typically, equipment installed in the U.S. has been investigated. Listed, and labeled by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL). In the absence of such approval(s), judgment as to the suitability and compliance of equipment can be a burden to the Authority Having Jurisdiction. As such, a qualified laboratory may be acquired to evaluate such equipment for purposes of assessing compliance with applicable standards and requirements. APPLICABLE STANDARDS: The equipment covered was evaluated for compliance with applicable requirements of the National Electrical Code, NFPA-70, 2002 edition and the essential requirements from UL 61010-1. Engineering judgment was applied where the standard in use did not address the conditions and circumstances of a particular facet of the installation. METHODOLOGY OF EVALUATION: All equipment evaluated was visually inspected for future reference. Following test, inspection, and corrective actions taken, (where deemed necessary), a serialized field label was affixed adjacent to the ballast near the cord connection. ENGINEERING CONSIDERATIONS: The following considerations apply: 1. Grounding Continuitv - All accessible dead metal parts that could become energized were tested for continuity. The bonding conductors in the construction were inspected and found to be of adequate size and secured properly. Test Equip. Settings Location Result / Verdict 1 N012 40A@2min. Cord plug prong to metal door window frame 1.1V (25.7mQ) PASS 2 N012 40A(g2min Cord plug prong to metal door latch (top portion) 0.9V (22.5ma) PASS 3 N012 40A(g2min Cord plug prong to metal panel hinge (bottom portion) 0.7V (17.5mQ) PASS 4 N012 40A(g2min Cord plug prong to metal front screen panel screw (bottom portion) 1.0V (25.0mQ) PASS 2. Dielectric Strength - De-eneraized orimarv circuits were tested for dielectric strength at 2121VDC between primary and protective earth with no breakdown or excess leakage current. All units tested. Test Equip. Settings Location Result / Verdict 1 N096 2130VDC Primary to Ground at the cord plug prong with Light and Power switches in the ON position, and the C and MH contactors pushed in. No breakdown, PASS Report: 171672 Page 9 of 13 29 March 2011 (N) Nemko Nemko USA, Inc. 11696 Son-ento Valley Road San Diego, Califomia, 92121, USA Phone (858) 755-5525 Fax (858) 259-7170 NON-COMPLIANCE ISSUES: The following issues required corrective action prior to issuance of the serialized Nemko USA Inc. label to the equipment. 1. Cord strain relief mount to enclosure was loose. 2. Unit marked 3-phase, no single phase rating. 3. Phase jumpers much smaller size (16-18AWG?) than power cord and mains wiring (10-14AWG). 4. Bare (uninsulated) unused conductor near mains termination. 5. (minor) Loose screws placed near thermocouple terminals. CORRECTIVE ACTION PERFORMED: 1. Tightened with pliers. 2. Confirmation of single phase wiring configuration (see attached email). 3. Replaced with new 12AWG jumpers (see attached email). 4. Used electrical insulation tape on exposed conductor wires. 5. Tightened/replaced screw terminals for the Watlow device/display controller. Spacings- In primary circuits, minimum 1/4 inch is maintained through air and over surfaces of insulating material, between current-carrying parts of opposite polarity, and between current-carrying parts and dead metal parts (unless integral to NRTL-approved component). 2. Mechanical Assembly- Components such as connectors, wiring terminals, and lamps are reliably mounted and prevented from shifting. 3. Internal wiring- Internal wiring connections terminate in approved wire nuts. All primary wiring is rated minimum 600V, 105°C minimum (UL style 1015 or equivalent). 4. Corrosion Protection - All ferrous metal parts are suitably protected against corrosion by painting, plating, or the equivalent. 5. Grounding - All exposed dead metal parts and all dead metal parts within the enclosure that are exposed to contact during servicing, and that are likely to become energized in a fault condition, are reliably connected to the grounding system terminating at the grounding terminal or lead of the supply wire connection. 6. Current-carrving parts - All current-carrying parts are copper or copper-based alloy. 7. Accessibilitv of live parts - All uninsulated live parts in primary circuitry are housed within suitable enclosure materials and are adequately guarded against contact by the articulated finger probe. All conductive parts that could become energized with hazardous voltage were tested for continuity with the protective earthing terminal or conductor at the supply input. 8. Approved Components - For purposes ofthe evaluation, unless otherwise noted, critical components requiring certification or evaluation by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory include the following: Report: 171672 Page 11 of 13 29 March 2011 (N) Nemko Nemko USA, Inc. 11696 Son-ento Valley Road San Diego, Califomia, 92121, USA Phone (858) 755-5525 Fax (858) 259-7170 Thermal Cabinet Component Manufacturer Model Ratings Approvals Plug Hubbell Twist-lock, NEMA L5-30P 3C, 250V, 30A UL, CSA Cord Carol SOOW 10AWG/4C, 600V UL, CSA Terminal block Unable to verify Designated: TB1 Unable to verify Unable to verify Primary wire Carol 1230, 1335, 1032, 1015, 10269A 14-12AWG, 600V, VW-1, 105''C UL, CSA Fuse holders (3 provided) Unable to verify Designated: F2-F4 Unable to verify Unable to verify Fuses (6 provided) Fusetron FRN-R-12, D-Class 250V, 12A, Time Delay, Current Limit UL, CSA Contactors (2 provided) Furnas 42BE25AFL1, Series A, Designated: C, MH 240V, 3HP UL, CSA Step-down Transformer Impervitran Industries Control B500BTZ13 Primary: 230V, Secondary: 115V, 0.5KVA UL, CSA Fuse Fusetron FNM 5, Designated: Fl 250V, 5A UL, CSA Solid State Relay Gordos Arkansas GA5-4D25, Designated: SSR 250V, 25A UL, CSA Power / Light Switches (2 provided) Carling 9614 125V, 15A/250V, 10A Unable to verify Main PCB Unable to verify Marked: 28/48 Main 5F82737, 882321 Designated: 2800 MAIN BD Unable to verify Unable to verify CRE PCB Solid State Relays Unable to verify Opto 22 Designated: CRE BD MP120D4 Designated: K1-K3 Unable to verify DC Unable to verify UL, CSA Controller / Meter (not connected to AC, only TC) Watlow 94AA-1DAQ-00RG 100-240V, 50/60HZ, 12VA None Buzzer (not connected) Sonalert SC110 120V, 21mA UL Condensing unit Copeland FBAH-0100-CAV-003 Marked: 22KB4 208/230V, 60Hz, 10.3A UL, CSA Compressor (Low Stage) Copeland RRL4-0100-CAV Marked: B/M2B N9- 415 208/230V CSA Circulation motor Magnetek JB1S082N Marked: 785695 115/230V, 50/60HZ, 2.3A, Class B Unable to verify Light receptacle Unable to verify Unable to verify Unable to verify Unable to verify Light bulb Unable to verify Unable to verify 120V, 40W Unable to verify Report: 171672 Page 12 of 13 29 March 2011 (N) Nemko Nemko USA, Inc. 11696 Son-ento Valley Road San Diego, Califomia, 92121, USA Phone (858) 755-5525 Fax (858) 259-7170 CONCLUSION: The equipment covered by this report was evaluated and tested to comply with Nationally Recognized Standards.
