To operate you need 2 mold half's to operate. I think they should be able to get close with the weights with this info. The operation of the press is very slow all the movement is from the three Hydraulic cylinders on the bottom of the press. There are 2 smaller cylinders (Low Pressure) that move the big cylinder all the way to top half of the mold cavities. The big cylinder (High Pressure) will then actuate. After about 20 seconds of high pressure the press will open up approximately 0.5" to release any trapped air that may have been captured in the first closure. The press will then close again at High pressure for a period of time then the press will open completely to complete the core mold process. (for customer tooling)= 54" Another question, can we assume the steel ring at the base of the machine distributes the load uniformly to the foundation? The press does move and is not always in the idle state. I have to assume the tool will be as thin as 4" thick. The press opening is 19". Therefore the machine will stroke upward 15". This moves the center of gravity up. The resultant center of gravity from this action is now 52" from the base. I believe this is what you will want to use when calculating the seismic loading. Sheet 2 also shows trench depth at 29 inches. This is the same depth as the trench for the double deck presses, but there were external pneumatic cylinders required to bring the lower spike plate up to operator work height, · and to bring the upper spike plate down to operator work height (see sheets 1-3 of the manual operation pdf file sent earlier). Since you're only working from one deck height you may be able to modify the trench depth so the external lift cylinder is not needed.
