Dear Mr. Peterson
As of December 2, 1996, Wings West will introduce Saab 340
'aircraft to Carlsbad, with 5 flights a day to LAX. Currently
'Wings West operates out of a small mobile building style terminal..'
The square footage of' the passenger hold areas is 140 square feet
per area (secured/unsecured). This present hold aria
configuration can become cramped and uncomfortable for the
'passengers.
Like the hold areas, the operations foot print behind the ticket
counter should be upgraded. The.installation' 6f a bag shoot to
the outside of the building ill ease congestion. Presently
checked bags are moved manually from the ticket counter through
the operations center and end up out the back door. This
procedure clearly exacerbates the already cramped employee
operations center. The bag shoot will eliminate-the problem,
allowing the agents to check the bags then immediately use the
shoot to the. waiting bag trailer outside. 'To accommodate the
larger vol%ime. of passengrs per flight after the introduction of
Saab equipment, an expansion and upgrade of the terminal will be
necessary.
We propose to set up and lease an additional mobile building to be
married to the existing mobile'structure, the installation of a
baggage shoot located behind the ticket counter and ,a outside
fencing modification.
American Eagle has agreed it will maintain the highest possible
standard, that includes providing comfortable waiting areas for
our passengers. The proposed building expansion will double the
size' of the passenger holding areas. The installation of the bag
shoot will ease baggage congestion in the operations space.. The
fence modificatfon is needed to keep our bags secure once they
have, exited the building. -
Please call me if any questions or verifications are needed
concerningthis project.
