The City will route the plans to EsGil Corporation and the Carlsbad Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments. 2. Bring one corrected set of plans and calculations/reports to EsGil Corporation, 9320 Chesapeake Drive, Suite 208, San Diego, CA 92123, (858) 560-1468. Deliver all remaining sets of plans and calculations/reports directly to the City of Carlsbad Building Department for routing to their Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments. NOTE: Plans that are submitted directly to EsGil Corporation only will not be reviewed by the City Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments until review by EsGil Corporation is complete. Enclosed usable space under interior or exterior stairways should be protected on the enclosed side as required for one-hour fire-resistive construction. Section 1009.5.3. Not indicated on the plans. 4. Openings in exit enclosures, other than unexposed exterior openings, shall be limited to those necessary for exit access to the exit enclosure from normally occupied spaces and for egress from the exit enclosure. Plans still indicate the door to the electrical room from the stair enclosure. The electrical room is not a normally occupied space. 5. Access to the enclosed space shall not be directly from within the stair enclosure. 1009.5.3. See comment above. 6. Provide details on the plans for the fire-resistive construction. The modified panel is located approximately in the middle of a series of panels along column line 12. The panels are two stories and 24 '-0" wide by 36' -0" high. The panels were analyzed as a group, by imposing a 100 kip lateral load on each individual panel. Each panel type was modeled in RISA 3D using a "mesh" of 2 '-0" by 2' -0" plates. The overall relative stiffness of the group was calculated for both the modified and unmodified group by summing the relative stiffness of each panel on the column line. The percent change in relative stiffness due to the opening at the 2nd level was approximately -3.0% and the percent change in relative stiffness at the rooflevel was approximately-LO%. This minor change in relative stiffness isn't significant enough to merit a strengthening of the panel.
