room 196 and room 113 or provide a 1 HR corridor at the exit_ adjacent to room
158. Also provide a complete exit analysis plan as required in the original
correction list. The one provided includes only one part of the T.I. NOTE: The
original corrections related to 1 HR corridors still may be applicable. See
original correction list.
• MECHANICAL (1994 UNIFORM MECHANICAL CODE)
30. In Groups B, F, M, and S Occupancies, or portions thereof, where Class I, 11, of
Ill-A liquids are used (in any amount), mechanical exhaust shall be provided
sufficient to produce six air changes per hour. Such mechanical exhaust shall be
taken from a point at or near the floor. UBC, Section 1207.5
32. Correct the dust collection system design as per UMC Chapters 5 & 6.
A. On the plans, provide a list of the types of dust collected by each dust
collection system. (All Steel?)
B. Clearly show the Class of exhaust ducts (Class 4 or Class 5?).
C. Show the sheet metal thickness of the ducts as per UMC, Table 5-B.
D. Clearly show the CFM rating of the existing dust collector.
E. The plans show a total of 12-4 diameter duct drops on the dust collector.
Not the 11-4 diameter duct drops used in the make-up air calculations.
Please correct.
F. The table for the CFM for 4,000 velocity is incorrect. The CFM values for
the 5 inch, 6 inch, 9 inch, and 10 inch diameter ducts are too low.
G. The minimum duct conveying velocities are less than 4,000 fpm minimum
conveying velocity, for metal chips and turnings as per UMC, Section
505.4 and Table 5-A.

2. Provide a statement on the Title Sheet of the plans that this project shall comply
with Title 24 and 1994 UBC, UMC and UPC and 1993 NEC.
3. Please provide a written estimate of the total value of all construction work
proposed under this permit. The value shall include all finish work, painting,
roofing, electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, fire extinguishing systems
and any other permanent equipment. Please provide a signed copy of the
designer's or contractor's construction cost estimate of all work proposed. UBC
Section 107 .2
4. On the first sheet of the plans indicate:
• The floor area of the remodeled area,
• The occupant load of the remodel area(s).
5. Provide a note on the plans indicating if any hazardous materials will be stored

included. The materials listing should be stated in a form that would make
verification of classification in Tables 3-D and 3-E possible.
8. Note on the plans: "All interior finishes must comply with Chapter 8 of the UBC".
Specify "Class Ill flame spread rating (minimum) for F1 ."
9. Note on plan that suspended ceilings shall comply with UBC Tables 25-A, 16-0
and 16-B.
10. Provide an exit analysis plan (may be 8 1 /2" x 11" or any convenient size).

11. Corridors must provide continuous protection to the exterior of the building.
Interruptions by an intervening room is not permitted. Lobbies or reception
rooms constructed as required for corridors are not considered intervening
rooms. Section 1005.1. The corridor as shown on sheet A6 should continue to
the outside.
12. New corridors serving 30 or more occupants shall have walls and ceilings of
one-hour construction.
13. Section 1005.7, Exceptions 5, 7 and 8 do not apply to common corridors where
the corridor serves as an exit for non-office areas (manufacturing, warehouse,
etc.).
14. Clearly show where the non-rated corridor system terminates and a rated
corridor system commences.
15. One-hour fire-rated corridors shall have interior door openings protected by tight-
fitting smoke and draft control assemblies rated 20 minutes. Doors shall be
maintained self-closing or be automatic closing by action of a smoke detector per
Section 713.2. Doors shall be gasketed to provide a smoke and draft seal where
the door meets the stop on sides and top. Section 1005.8.1.
16. Provide a complete architectural section of the corridor, showing all fire-resistive
materials and details of construction for all walls, ceiling and all penetrations.
Section 1005.7.
17. If a room with an exhaust fan has a door opening into a rated corridor, show how
makeup air will be provided to the room. The door cannot be undercut, nor can a
louver in the door be provided. Section 1005.8.1.
18. Provide a note on the plans stating: "Penetrations of fire-resistive walls and
roof-ceilings shall be protected as required in UBC Sections 709 and 710."
19. Note all penetration of rated assemblies will be protected by "T" rated
firestopping material.

listed as a Class l-A, 1-B, l-C. II, Ill-A, or 111-8 liquid. Other hazards shall be listed as corrosive, oxidizer, tox~ etc.
All hazard categories shall be listed for materials with multiple hazards. Refer to Appendix VI-A In the UFC or to
MSDS for classification information. ·
5. List the flash point for flammable and combustible liquids. List the pH tor corrosives. List the LOSO oral rat or dermal
rabbit for toxic and/or highly toxic materials and the LCS0 inhalation rat (ihl rat) for toxic and/or highly toxic gases. List
all properties that apply. ·
