The contractor for this project has requested a minor revisim to the above plan. He has requested a change in the
6x6 post located on the end of the 5-1 18 x 18 GLB beam (B1) adjacent to stairs. This post is shown on sheet S2 of
the approved plans. He has requested a change to a 4x6 post at that location
A 4x6 DFL +2 post or better is acceptable at that location. A 4x6 DFL #3 or Stud grade is not aceaptable. Total
design bearing on that member is 8,568 pounds. The resulting design stress on the 4x6 post is 445 psi.
This shall not be canpidered to be an acceptable, substitution at any other location.

regulating energy conservation, noise attenuation and access for the disabled. This plan review
is based on regulations enforced by the Building Department. You may have other corrections
based on laws and ordinance by the Planning Department, Engineering Department, Fire
Department or other departments. Clearance from those departments may be required prior to
the issuance of a building permit.
Present California law mandates that residential construction comply with the 1998 edition of
the California Building Code (Title 24), which adopts the following model codes: 1997 UBC,
1997 UPC, 1997 UMC and 1996 NEC (all effective 7/1/99).
The above regulations apply to residential construction, regardless of the code editions adopted
by ordinance.
