Determining the suitability of a floor, foundation, or other supporting structure to support any washer extractor requires analysis by a qualified structural engineer of the forces transmitted to the floor by the machine, and the reaction of the foundation to these forces. Machine Static Load Max. Dynamic Force Frequency .Mc;,del (full load + water) Transmitted to Foundation (RPM/60) (normal operation) 30022V6J approx 1,344 ·1bs 1,5'98.29 lbs force (RMS) 9.92 Hz ·48036QHP approx 7.,988 lbs 666.81 lbs force (RMS) 10.00 Hz 64046E6N approx 23, 183 lbs 1,017.05 lbs force (RMS) 10.00 Hz The data pr~sented depicts the dyhamic force(s) transmitted to the floor during normal operation at the listed machine model's highest operating speed, at which water is "centrifuged" from the linen. Operational factors may lead to rare exceedences of the dynamic force listed above, and therefore an appropriate factor of safety must be applied. Where there is more than one machine in your installation, the structural engineer should include in his analysis the cumulative load., or "beating" effect on the floor produced by the simultaneous operation of several machines. The preceding r1;3ptesents the machine side of the question regarding the suitability ofa floor system to support a partiGular machine. The question which your structural engineer must determine is how the floor reacts to the machine. To this end, please see both sides, B22DB91024 and B22DB91025, of the accompanying Dealer Bulletin dated September 18, 1992, which highlights potential problems due to insufficiently strong and/or rigid foundations. Tociay's building construction techniques can cause vibration problems in upper floor installations of any manufacturer's rigid or flexibly-mounted washer-extractors. It is even po~!lible for on-grade installations to tre.nsa,.it vibrations to upper floors. ·Such problems will occur it' the floor is not strong enough, and especially :ff the floor isn't rigid enough as wlien the natural frequency of the floor or building is close to the operating speeds of the .machinery. This is even true of MILNOR 's flexibly-mounted HYDRO-CUSHION machine which has long been the standard, for our industry. What has been published about HYDRO-CUSHION machines in the past was appropriate for the buildings of yesteryear-. However, building and construction techniques have changed so radically in recent years that new construction simply may not be rigid enough to support any rotating or reciprocating machinery even if the building othel"Wise meets all code Nqu:irements including the minimum live load mandated by the applicable building code. · Before such machinery is offered or sold for installation on any floor not on grade,· it is imperative ti:iat your customer obtain a recommendation fl'Om qualified professional engineers, based on a thorough analysis of the static, live lood, and dynamic force characteristics of any rotating Qr reciprocating machinery. This applies not only to washer•extractol'8 but also to such machines as ironers, dryel'S and air compressors. Ori the other hand, if an existing upper floor has been successfully supporting suspension- mounted washer-extnctora ( of any brand), a MILNOR HYDRO-CUSHION machine of the same capacity can I.DO&t certainly replace it without causing additional vibration, or MILNOR will accept return of the JDBchine tor full credit. Puring extracting, "rigid" machines transmit forces up to 30 times greater than equivalent "fl~bly-mounted" models. The actual magnitude of these force~ vary~epend_ing on the ma~ size; th~ final extraction speed; tile amount, condition. and type of .goods bei!'tg_processed; the liquor I.eve! and chemical conditions 1n the bath preceding extraction; and on several other factors. Estimates of the maximum force normalfy encpuntered are available for each MILNOR model and size upon request. Floor or foundation sizes shown, on any MILNOR document are only for on-grade situations based only on ·previous experience without implying any warranty, obligation or responsibility on our part. RIGID MACHINES-Size for size, rigid washer-extractors naturally: require a stronger, more rigid floor, foundation or other supporting structure than fle~iblv-mounted models. Providin_g the supporting soil under the slao is itself strong_ and tj~d enough and has not subsided to leave tne floor slab suspende'd without support, "on grade" instalfations can often be $a.de directly to an existing }Joor slab if it has ·sufficient strength and rigidity to safely withstand our publish~d forces without transmitting ~n'!ue !ibration. If the subsoil has s~dea,, or if ~ floor slab i~ has ins"!ffi.cient str~n~h .ar:'d nS\dity, a. de~p.et foundation, poured as to become monohth1c with the floor slab, may be reqwred. Suppor! piles may even be required if the subsoil itself 1s •spnngY.'' (i.e. if its resonant frequency is near the machine's operating s~d). Above grade installations .of iigid ma~s also require a sufficiently strong and ngid floor or: other supporting structure as descnoed below. FLEXIBLY-MOUNTEO MACHINES-Size for size, flexibly-mounted m:achines generally dQ not require as strong a floor, foundation or other supporting structure as do rigid machines. However, a floor or other supporting $trllcture having sufficient strength and rigidity (as described below) is nonetheless vitally important for these models as well. · HOW STRONG AND RIGID? Many USA building. codes ~pe~ that laun?l'Y floors must have a minim~ live load capa~~ity o_f ~sp pounds per sq~a~e foot (732 kg per _sq~are meter). However, even comp1ianc:e with tt,ns or any other standard. does not necessanl_y guarantee suffio!!nt ngid!!Y: In any event, 1t 1s the sole responsibility of the owner /user to assure thaUhe floor and/ or any other supporting structure exceeds not only all applicable b~laing·coaes, butalso that the floor and/ or ijny other supporting structu,re for_ each washer-extractor or group _of wa?her-e~tracto~ a<:tually nas sufficient sttenmh and ·_rigidi~, p\us a reasonable factor of safety for both, to support the weight of all the £ully loaq.ed machine(s) including the weight of the water and goocls, and mauding the .. published 360° rotating sinusoidal RMS forces that are. transmitted by the :i;n~chin~(s). Moreover, the floor, foundation, or other supporting structure· must ,have sufficient rigidity (i.e. a natural or resonant frequen~ manx times greater Jhan the machine speed with a r?ason, able factor pf safety), otherwise the • mentioned 360° rotating sinusoidal RMS forces can be m nrlie and magnified many times. It is especiall1-important to consider all potential vibration problems that might occur due to all possible combinations o forcing frequencies (rotating speeds) of the machine(s} compared to the natural frequencies .of the floor and/or any other supporting structure(s). A qualified soil ana/ or structural-engineer must be engaged for this purpose. FORCE ~ FORCE ~-, ... •.w •· • ·• -·, .; •• •·· -~-;.1 .. Use only Bussmann Fusetron FRN (up to 250V), FRS (250V to 600V) or similar lag type fuses. Use the fuse or breaker size specified here. An over.:sized fuse or breaker poses a fire hazard (see caution below). An under-sized fuse or breaker will trip needlessly. 4. Wire size is per the USA National Electric Code. Use wire size shown for runs up to 50 feet (15 meters). Use next larger size for runs 50 to 100 feet (15 to 30 m). Use wire two sizes larger for runs greater than 100 feet (30 m). Under-sized wiring poses a fire hazard (see caution). This can also cause voltage drops even if the wire's current-carrying capacity exceeds that of the fuse/breaker. Voltage drops cause machine faults and reduce motor starting torque ( e.g., a 5% voltage drop causes a motor to produce only 90% of rated torque). Voltage drop is greatest the instant the motor is energized, when highest torque is required. 5. , See document BFUUUF0I "External Fuse ... Requirements" for more information. CAUTION [TI: Fire hazard-An over-sized fuse/circuit breaker or under-sized wiring can permit the wiring to overheat and cause a fire. • Always use the fuse/circuit breaker and wire size specified here. -End ofBFHOUF0l - PELLERIN MILNOR CORPORATION 25 ~Lfo.v>~ Tou're buying the company behind the machine, 'too. ·· . · One of the most important components in a Milnor washer" extractor is the company behind the product. Clean profit:' The Ag_uaRe.cycle .Process Large Solids Removal: The first step in the filtration process is large solids removal. This starts with a self priming wastewater pump sending the wastewater through a vibrating lint removal system to remove all large solids in the process water. The "screened" water will remove all suspended solids larger than 100 microns, and is discharge to a "leg tank" while the collected lint is discharged to a bucket for disposal. This leg tank holds the process water until the Recycle System requires recycled water. When the System calls for recycled water, a process pump pulls the water out of the leg tank and the pressurized filtration process begins. While the process water is held in the leg tank, ozone is continuously injected into the wastewater to keep the water bacteria free. Ozone also serves as a micro-coagulant. The small bubbles of gas attach to emulsified and free oils, grease and other hydrocarbons causing them to oxidize and float quickly to the top of the tank. Ozone also serves as a disinfectant and deodorizer, keeping the process water bacteria-free and odor-free. Suspended Solids Filtration: Our filtration tanks are completely pressurized and controlled by 3-way pneumatic valves that control the flow of process water; either forward (from top to bottom) as in filtration mode or backwards (bottom to top) as the units are backwashed. The Suspended Solids Filters are the first series of filtration. Different types of media filtration are used to trap the smaller suspended solids particles remaining in the process water. The Suspended Solids Filter will trap all particles greater than 2 microns in size and hold these solids in the media bed until the vessels reach a pre-determined volume or time setting. The System will then automatically backwash the filter by sending recycled water at a high flow-rate through the bottom of the vessel. This high volume lifts the bed approximately 50% and forces all accumulated solids to travel through the top of the vessel and out as backwash water. This backwash water is then sent directly to the sewer system, by- passing the wastewater discharge pit. Oil and Grease Filtration and Soaps and Organics Filtr~tion: After leaving the Suspended Solids Pressure Vessels, the process water travels through large pressure tanks filled with specially formulated media designed to address the various types of process water in each special environment. Oil and Grease and Soaps and Organics Pressure Tank remove the majority of free and emulsified oils and grease in the process water as it travels through our filtration process as well as any organics in the water, including hydrocarbons, surfactants, toxins and certain chemicals accumulated in the washing process. 1061 Triad Court• Suite 9 • Marietta, Georgia 30062-2259 Phone 866.272.9253 • Fax 770.973.0283 www.aquarecycle.com I ' ' t Oil and grease and Soaps and Organics filter is automatically backwashed once daily as described with the Suspended Solids Pressure Filter. However, the backwashing of these vessels is designed to simply "fluff up" and redistribute the media bed to prevent channeling. The backwash discharge does not contain any toxic chemicals. The media serves as an adsorption bed and removes and retains the chemicals and the organics that are removed from the process water. Therefore, the media has a limited life and will require annual replenishment. Backwash water is sent directly to the sewer system. After leaving the Oil and Grease and Soaps and Organics Pressure Tanks, the process water is sent directly to the washers as the washing machines demand it. Water demand is determined and supplied by the use of a pressurized bladder tank and 60-40 pressure switch. As the washing machines need more water, the pressure drops, the pressure switch turns on the process pump, and the bladder empties as recycled water is sent to the machines as hot and cold water supply. As the water is being sent to the machines, it passes through a UV disinf~ction system, which uses ultra-violet light to kill any remaining bacteria and viruses in the water before sending the final water to the washing machines. Recycled Water: In a normal laundry operation, there is a water deficiency between incoming water and wastewater discharge due to the water retained on the linen. This represents between 10% and 20% of the incoming water that is addressed as "make up water''. This is provided by including a 2" city water feed tied into the recycled water feed to the washers. If the demand for water is higher than the volume of water the washers demand, we use a two way pressure reducing valve to send make up city water to the washers too. We also use the city water line to backwash the filters periodically. The recycle system utilizes a PLC (programmable logic computer) to run all aspects of the recycle system automatically. It turns on and off, backwashes, tracks the flow rates and total amounts of recycled and fresh water replenishment, and serves as our command center for operation of the system. A remote operated modem allows AquaRecycle personnel to track the system performance on a daily basis, providing critical access to the system for trouble shooting, software updates and improvements. In-line water quality monitors the ph and TDS of the recycled water continuously tracking the quality of the recycled water. If chemical usage is out of balance or if a malfunction occurs that changes the water quality during the recycle process, the system automatically recognizes the change in quality and fresh water is used instead of recycled water until the recycled water reaches the appropriate quality. This process assures the finest quality linen at all times. 1061 Triad Court • Suite 9 • Marietta, Georgia 30062 -2259 Phone 866.272.9253 • Fax 770.973.028~ www.aquarecycle.com ~', ('' co ,-, & THIS DRAWING & DESIGN IS ' 0 co \D cu THE PROPERTY OF CHEM-TAINER INDUSTRIES INC, IT MAY NOT BE USED FOR ANY PURPOSE ·•,!
