The following items listed need clarification, modification or change. All items must be satisfied
before the plans will be in conformance with the cited codes and regulations. Per Sec. 106.4.3,

Carlsbad Building Department, 1635 Faraday Ave., Carlsbad, CA 92008, (760)602-2700.
The City will route the plans to EsGil Corporation and the Carlsbad Planning, Engineering
and Fire Departments.
2. Bring one corrected set of plans and calculations/reports to EsGil Corporation, 9320

Department for routing to their Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments.

7. Provide an exit analysis plan (may be 8 1/2" x 11" or any convenient size). Show in this
analysis the occupant load of each area, the general exit flow patterns (by using arrows),
accumulated occupant loads and required exit widths. Please clarify the use of the
future expansion? Is this space to be used as storage or office space? The use of
this space in the means of egress system require the space must provide a
minimum of 1 foot candle of illumination any time the building is occupied. Please
revise the electrical plan to show the egress illumination.
8. Exits shall not pass through kitchens, store rooms, or spaces used for similar purposes.

1. Provide a statement on the Title Sheet of the plans stating that this project shall
comply with the 2001 editions of the California Building/Plumbing/Mechanical
Codes and the 2004 edition of the California Electrical Code, which adopt the
1997 UBC, 2000 UMC, 2000 UPC and the 2002 NEC.
2. Provide a section view of the new wood ceiling. Show:
a) Specify manufacturer and approval number
b) Method of attaching top to the structure and lateral bracing.
c) Show height of the soffit from floor, soffit to roof framing or floor framing.
3. Glazing in the following locations should be of safety glazing material in
accordance with Section 2406.4
a) Fixed or operable panels adjacent to a door where the nearest exposed
edge of the glazing is within a 24-inch arc of either vertical edge of the door
in a closed position and where the bottom exposed edge of the glazing is
less than 60 inches above the walking surface.
4. Please provide a section view of new glazed interior partitions. Show:
a) Method of attaching top and bottom plates to structure. Wall sheathing
material and details of attachment (size and spacing of fasteners).
5. Please clarify the wall section to show what the hold-downs are and their
installation.
6. In areas where the occupant load is at least 30, two exits are required. See
Office. Table 10-A.
7. Provide an exit analysis plan (may be 8 1/2" x 11" or any convenient size). Show
in this analysis the occupant load of each area, the general exit flow patterns (by

8. Exits shall not pass through kitchens, store rooms, or spaces used for similar
purposes. Section 1004.2.2.
9. Exit signs are required whenever two exits are required. Show all required exit
sign locations. Section 1003.2.8.2.
10. If exit signs are required, provide the following notes on the plans, per Section
1003.2.8.2:
a) Exit signs shall be located as necessary to clearly indicate the direction of
