As-Built Construction of 8'-2" high Outdoor Fireplace
To the Building Inspector,
This letter is provided at the request of the City of Carlsbad's Building Department.
The outdoor fire place located at the above address was constructed under the direction of a licensed
contractor. The fireplace was built per Section 2111 A, 2007 California Building Code. The footing
dimensions are 6" minimum from face of wall and 12" minimum thickness. #4 @ 12" o.c. was provided
at the bottom of the foundation. Vertical #4 dowels were provided at the four corners of the fireplace,
within 6x8x12 CMU blocks, fully grouted. Horizontal bars were provided, #4@16" o.c. for the entire
height of the firebox walls. The hearth was constructed with 6x8x16 CMU blocks, fully grouted, on a
spread footing 12" minimum thickness, with #4 dowel @ 16" o.c. Foundations for hearth walls are 3"
from face of wall, 12" wide.
This is to certify that the as-built concealed portions of the construction are consistent with the
approved plans and specifications and the current adopted CBC. The term certify is as defined by, and
limited to, Section 6735.5 of the State of California Business and Professions Code, 2009. More
specifically Ihc certification is "an expression of professional opinion regarding those facts or findings
which are the subject of the certification, and does not constitute a warranty or guarantee, either
expressed or implied."
