ChromaCode uses hazardous materials in - - quantities well below the maximum allowed storage limits per Control Area. The facility has a total of two Control Areas. ChromaCode is the sole proprietor of one Control Area. The hazardous materials listed on the Hazardous Material Classification Report are Qiagen Buffer AVL, ethanol, and bleach. The Qiagen Buffer AVL and ethanol are used in DNA/RNA extraction. These processes will occur in the extraction lab, and the corresponding mixed waste stream will be collected and stored in this lab. Activate bleach is used in all laboratories to decontaminate lab surfaces and equipment. A 70% ethanol solution is used to wipe down the surfaces after the bleach wipe down, this process does not generate waste. Diluted household bleach is used to decontaminate iabware in the main laboratory and the solution is poured down the sewer drain after use. Corrosive and Flammable Liquids (Class I B) are the only classified hazardous materials that will be stored at the subject site.
