LA'I'ERAL EARTH PRESSURE CALCULATIONS ]?OR PROPOSED
RETAINING STRUCTURES AT "CARLSBAD 48" WEDGE.
On February 4, 1982 we visited your site and obtained a repre-
sentative sample of the soil comprising the proposed retained
material at the southern property line of the subject site.
Laboratory analysi~ was performed to determine the peak and
residual angles of internal friction (phi angle) for the repre-
sentative sarnple. This value was used to calculate lateral
earth pressures (active and passive) for a nu:mbG:r of wall heights
and backfill slopes. Results were determined uslng both Rankine
and Coulomb equations including a graphical method as presented
by Culmann.
Results are as follows:
