Each heater is reported to be 120 lb and supported by (5) points. Each point will attach to existing 2x6 sub purlins. The attached calc for B1 B shows that the sub purlins can support the additional load. The steel joists were designed to support the tributary load of the roof which includes a miscellaneous mechanical load of 1 psf and an allowance for additional 750 lb point load placed at any panel point. The 32LH09 steel joist that supports% of the load of (3) heaters has the capacity to support 750 lbs in addition to the uniform roof load of 20 psf live and 12 psf dead. See approved plans, sheet S.4. The load from the (3) heaters is 120x3/2 = 180 lbs. The total additional load to the girder will be supported more as a uniform load than point loads, however the sum total is less than the allowable used in the design. Also, the equivalent additional uniform load is approximately 180 lb I (3x11 ') = 5.45 plf dead. The total load to the 60' long joist with the new mechanical is 280 roof+ 21 joist+ 5.5 new mech = 306 plf. Per the Steel Joist Institute Manual, these joists can support a total load of 356 plf. The addition of the new radiant heaters is acceptable for this roof system without the need to retrofit or upgrade any structural members.
