This is to report the results of tests to determine the moisture contents of the soils in the upper
three feet below finished grade in the proposed building ore0 at the subject site in Carlsbad,
California.
Samples were initially obtained on May 17, 1977 and the results of tests indicated that the
moisture contents in the subgrade soils were less than required prior to pouring concrete foot-
ings and slabs. A second group of moisture samples was obtained on May 23, 1977 after
additional water had been added to the soils. The results of the final moisture determinations
are presented as follows:

It is concluded fran the field observations of the various soil types and the final results of the
moisture determinations that the soils in the upper 2.3 to 3.0 feet below finished grade at the
locations sampled have been sufficiently moistened to minimize the potential expansion of the
soils as recanmended in our report under Project No. 70-10-28D, dated October 12, 1971.
