Please make all corrections on the original tracings, as requested in the correction
list. Submit three sets of plans for commercial/industrial projects (two sets of plans
for residential projects). For expeditious processing, corrected sets can be
submitted in one of two ways:
1. Deliver all corrected sets of plans and calculations/reports directly to the City of
Carlsbad Building Department, 1635 Faraday Ave., Carlsbad, CA 92008, (760)
602-2700. The City will route the plans to EsGil Corporation and the Carlsbad
Planning, Engineering ancl Fire Departments.
2. Brjng one corrected set of plans and calculations/reports to EsGil Corporation,
9320 Chesapeake Drive, Suite 208, San Diego, CA 92123, (858) 560-1468.
Deliver all remaining sets of plans and calculations/reports directly to the City of
Carlsbad Building Department for routing to their Planning, Engineering and Fire
Departments.
NOTE: Plans that are submitted directly to EsGil Corporation only will not be
reviewed by the City Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments until review by
EsGil Corporation is complete.
These corrections are in response to items not fully addressed or as the
result of information provided, the text in bold underlined print indicates
the unresolved issue.
5. Provide fire sprinklers in Group A occupancies, as follows. Please note that the
"Fire Area" is defined as the aggregate floor area bounded by fire walls, fire
barriers, exterior walls or fire-resistance-rated horizontal assemblies of a building
(i.e., the floor areas/occupant load limits listed below are for the whole floor or
building unless smaller Fire Areas are created by fire-rated construction).
Section 903.2.1. Please clarify the plans to show in the Deferred Submittal
Block "NFPA 13 Wet Fire Sprinkler System shall be installed throughout
the entire Building" Sheet A-40 of the plans show several adjacent tenant
spaces to be A2 occupancies therefore the separation wall between the
occupancies must be 4 hour.
a) Group A-2, where any one of the following conditions e~ist:
i) The fire area exceeds 5,000 square feet.
ii) The fire area has an occupant load of 100 or more.
iii) The fire area is located on a floor other than the level of exit
discharge.
iv) The structure exceeds 5000 square feet, contains more than
one fire area containing a Group A occupancy and is
separated into two ot more buildings by fire walls of less than
four hour fire resistance rating without openings.
6. A 2-hour fire barrier separation is required between the A2 occupancy and the
B/M occupancy. Table 508.4 (see exceptions) No construction d.etails were
provided. See comment 7. Still no construction detail provided. The section
shown on sheet A-20 does not address the framing connections at the sill
and top plates etc.

7. Provide details on the plans for the fire-re~istive construction. Include roof/ceiling
assemblies, floor/ceiling assemblies, wall assemblies, column and beam
assemblies, etc. Be sure to list with each detail the basis of approval (U. L. listing
number, ICC research report, etc.). Please provide complete construction
plans and details for the 2 hour wall consistent with the UL listing and
provide the UL listing and construction information. See comment #6

• The area of specific alteration, repair or addition must comply as "new"
construction:
• A primary entrance to the building and the primary path of travel to the
altered area, must be shown to comply with all accessibility features.
• The path of travel shall include the existing parking.
• Existing toilet and bathing facilities that serve the remodeled area must be
shown to comply with all accessibility features.
