The product must be thoroughly mixed before being transferred to the spray apparatus and prior to application. The product is applied by air-spray application in one coat. The air temperature for application shall be limited to a minimum of 33°F (0.6°C) and a maximum of 120°F (490C). The maximum moisture content for the substrate is 25 percent. The cure time for the fire-retardant coating is 48 hours. 4.2 Application and Surface Burning Characteristics: When applied to dimensional white pine lumber or unfinished plywood at a coverage rate of 300 square feet per gallon (7.36 m2/L) with a dry film coating thickness of 3 mils [0.003 inch (0.09 mm)], the product provides a flame-spread index of 25 or less and a smoke-developed index of 200 or less when tested in accordance with ASTM E84, and qualifies as a Class A finish in accordance with IBC Section 803.1, IFC Section 803.1.1, and NFPA 703. The flame-spread and smoke-development indices are applicable when the coating is overcoated with two layers of acrylic paint or one layer of wood stain overcoated with one layer of polyurethane. 4.3 Field Test: An ultraviolet chemical is added to the product for the purpose of aiding in the identification of the product after application.
