anchor bolts (ESR 3037) for the steel mounted to existing concrete on project. Contractor drilled½"
Dia. X 6" deep holes. Anchors were installed with an impact gun and torqued with calibrated
torque wrench. All anchors met ESR Torque specifications. Inspected (field) welding for added
angle, beams and deck on project as shown on approved drawings. Welders are using a low-
hydrogen (F.C.A.W.) welding process on projects weldments. Welds are of good quality. Welders
have current "Welder Qualification Records" and "Procedure Qualification Records" per the
requirements of the "American Welding Society". D1.1. Inspected H.S. Bolting of Steel on project.
Contractor brought the steel connections, to a snug-tight condition and have been properly
tightened.
CERTIFICATION OF COMPUANCE: To the best of our knowledr,e, all of the r~ ~ unless otherwise note4 substantially complies with approved plans, specj/icotions and
opplicoble sections of the building codes. For this report to be valld it must hatle a final report, signed by the sp«iol inspector, stating 'Tmat Report of inspection and material
testing". Without a final report this document is inllOlid. This report cawrs the locations of the worlc reported only and doesn't constitute engineering opinion Of' project control.

The following items listed need clarification, modification or change. All items must be satisfied
before the plans will be in conformance with the cited codes and regulations. The approval of
the plans does not permit the violation of any state, county or city law.
GENERAL
1. Please make all corrections, as requested in the correction list. Submit FOUR new
complete sets of plans for commercial/industrial projects (THREE sets of plans for
residential projects). For expeditious processing, corrected sets can be submitted in one of
two ways:
1. Deliver all corrected sets of plans and calculations/reports directly to the City of
Carlsbad Building Department, 1635 Faraday Ave., Carlsbad, CA 92008, (760) 602-2700.
The City will route the plans to EsGil and the Carlsbad Planning, Engineering and Fire
Departments.
2. Bring TWO corrected set of plans and calculations/reports to EsGil, 9320 Chesapeake
Drive, Suite 208, San Diego, CA 92123, (858) 560-1468. Deliver all remaining sets of
plans and calculations/reports directly to the City of Carlsbad Building Department for
routing to their Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments.
NOTE: Plans that are submitted directly to EsGil only will not be reviewed by the City
Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments until review by EsGil is complete.
2. To facilitate rechecking, please identify, next to each item, the sheet of the plans
upon which each correction on this sheet has been made and return this sheet
with the revised plans.

RA TED CONSTRUCTION
6. Please specify that the new shaft walls shall be 1-hour rated. Sec. 713.4.

8. Please indicate that the corridor (or most likely exit passageway) is minimum one-hour
rated.
9. Provide a complete architectural section of the corridor, showing all fire-resistive
materials and details of construction for the fire partition walls and roof/ceilings and all
penetrations. Section 107.2.
10. Provide a note on the plans stating: "Penetrations of fire-resistive walls, floor-ceilings and
roof-ceilings shall be protected as required in CBC Section 714."
11. Please submit related electrical and mechanical plans for the proposed renovation. This
includes exit lighting, exit signage, any new HVAC penetrations, etc.
ACCESSIBILITY
12. Show or note that all hand-activated door opening hardware meets the following
requirements, per Section 118-404.2. 7:
a) Latching, or locking, doors in a path of travel are operated with a single effort by lever type hardware,
by panic bars, push-pull activating bars, or other hardware designed to provide passage without
requiring the ability to grasp the opening hardware.
b) Is to be centered ;;,34" but S44" above floor.
13. Show, or note, that there is a level floor or landing on each side of all doors. The floor or
landing is to be S½" lower than the doorway threshold, per Section 118-404.2.5.
14. Show or note that the maximum effort to operate doors shall not exceed 5 pounds, with
such pull or push effort being applied at right angles to hinged doors and at the center
plane of sliding or folding doors. When fire doors are utilized, the maximum effort to
operate the door may be increased to not exceed 15 pounds. Section 118-404.2.9.
15. Show or note that the lower 1 0" of all doors comply with Section 118-404.2.10, as follows:

a) To be smooth and uninterrupted, to allow the door to be opened by a wheelchair footrest, without
creating a trap or hazardous condition.
b) Narrow frame doors may use a 1 O" high smooth panel on the push side of the door.
16. Show a level area, or landing, per Section 11 B-404.2.4:
a) 2:60" in the direction of door swing.
b) 2:48" in the direction opposite the door swing (or 44" if doors don't have latches or closers).
17. Show that the minimum strike edge distances are provided at the level area on the side to
which a door (or a gate) swings, per Section 11 B-404.2.4:
a) 2:12" on the push side, if the door has both a latch and a closer.
STRUCTURAL
18. Please provide complete structural plans & specifications with details and references for
the floor infill.
19. Please reflect all the items, as per structural calc's., on the plans.
20. Specify all Special Inspections for the new work including epoxy anchors, expansion
anchors, field welding, etc.
21. The City Policy requires that their Special Inspection Agreement Form be completed for
this project.
