REMARKS List: A. Provide design calc's and construction plans, signed & sealed by a
licensed engineer, to show how the tank supports will resist seismic lateral loads. B. Provide
the manufacturers listing information for the LP storage tank C. Show on the site plans the
location of the fill station. Note on the plans that all fixed electrical equipment and wiring within
15ft sphere of the fill nozzle shall be Classified Class 1, Div I (explosion proof).

3-7 Ignition Source Control.
3-7.1 Application.
3-7.1.1 This section includes provisions for minimizing the
possibility of ignition of flammable LP-Gas--air mixtures re-
sulting from the normal or accidental release of nominal quan-
tities of liquid or vapor from LP-Gas systems installed and
operated in accordance with this code.
3-7.1.2 The installation of lightning protection equipment
shall not be required on LP-Gas storage containers.
NOTE: For information on lightning protection, see NFPA
780, Standard for the Installation of Lightning Protection Systems.
3-7.1.3 Grounding and bonding shall not be required on
LP-Gas systems.
NOTE: Because liquefied petroleum gas is contained in a
closed system of piping and equipment, the system need not
be electrically conductive or electrically bonded for protection
against static electricity. For information on grounding and
bonding for protection against static electricity, see NFPA 77,
Recommended Practice on Static Electricity
3-7.2 Electrical Equipment. - -
3-7.2.1 Electrical equipment and wiring shall be of a type
specified by and shall be installed in accordance with NFPA
70, National Electrical Code, for ordinary locations.
Exception: Fixed electrical equipment in classified areas shall comply
with 3-7.2.2.
37.2.2* Fixed electrical equipment and wiring installed
within classified areas specified in Table 3-7.2.2 shall comply
with Table 3-7.2.2 and shall be installed in accordance with
NFPA 70, National Electrical Code. This provision shall not apply
to fixed electrical equipment at residential or commercial
installations of LP-Gas systems or to systems covered by Section
3-8. The provision shall apply to vehicle fuel operations.
Fired vaporizers, calorimeters with open flames, and other
areas where open flames are present either intermittently or
constantly shall not be considered electrically classified areas.

3-7.2.3 Electrical equipment installed on LP-Gas cargo vehi-
cles shall comply with 6-1.1.4.
3-7.3 Other Sources of Ignition.
3-7.3.1 Open flames or other sources of ignition shall not
be permitted in pump houses, cylinder filling rooms, or other
similar locations. Direct-fired vaporizers or indirect-fired va-
porizers attached or installed adjacent to gas-fired heat soufces
shall not be permitted in pump houses or cylinder filling
rooms.
3-7.3.2 Open flames (except as provided in Section 3-6),
cutting or welding, portable electric tools, and extension lights
capable of igniting LP-Gas shall not be permitted within classi-
fied areas specified in Table 3-7.2.2 unless the LP-Gas facilities
have been freed of all liquid and vapor or special precautions
have been taken under carefully controlled conditions.
3-8 LP-Gas Systems on Vehicles (Other than Engine Fuel
Systems).
3-8.1 Application.
3-8.1.1 This section applies to nonengine fuel systems on
commercial, industrial, construction, and public service vehi-
cles such as trucks, semitrailers, trailers, portable tar kettles,
road surface heating equipment, mobile laboratories, clinics,
and mobile cooking units (such as catering and canteen vehi-
cles). LP-Gas systems on such vehicles shall be permitted to
be either vapor-withdrawal or liquid-withdrawal type. Included
are provisions for installations served by exchangeable (re-
movable) cylinder systems and by permanently mounted
containers.
3-8.1.2 This section shall not apply to the following:
Systems installed on mobile homes.
Systems installed on recreational vehicles [see 3-1.3(i)]
Tank trucks, truck transports (trailers and semitrailers),
and similar units used to transport LP-Gas as cargo, which
are covered by Chapter 6
LP-Gas engine fuel systems on the vehicles covered by
Section 3-8 and those cited in 3-8.1.2, which are covered
by Chapter 8
3-8.2 Construction, Location, Mounting, and Protection of
Containers and Systems.
3-8.2.1 Containers shall comply with Section 2-2, and appur-
tenances used to equip them for service shall comply with
Section 2-3. In addition, the following shall apply:
(a) ASME containers shall be constructed Tor a minimum
250 psi (1.7 MPa) design pressure.
(b) Containers installed in enclosed spaces on vehicles (in-
cluding recesses or cabinets covered in 3-8.2.2) shall be con-
structed as follows:
Cylinders shall be designed and constructed for at least a
240-psi (1.6-MPa) service pressure.
ASME containers shall be constructed for at least a 312.5-
psi (2.2-MPa) design pressure.
(c) Cylinders shall comply with 2-2.4.
(d) Permanently mounted containers shall comply with
3-8.2.3(c).
(e) LP-Gas fuel containers used on passenger-carrying vehi-
cles shall not exceed 200 gal (0.8 m3) aggregate water capacity.

Site plan must indicate the location of roads, gates, driveways, buildings and all existing and
proposed fire hydrants within 200 feet of the project.
It is necessary to revise the Site Plan provided to ensure comformance with the Carlsbad (California)
Fire Code. See Notes below. -

Storage, dispensing or use of any flammable or combustible liquids shall comply with Article 79 of
the Uniform Fire Code. See item 32 for additional requirements.
In accordance with California Fire Code Article 52, 80 and 82, the following conditions are required to

1 .The emergency shutdown shall be placed at or near the south-east corner of the building away
from the building exit door.
Dispenser electrical disconnect is required and to be indicated on site plan.
Protective posts shall be provided as required by Article 80, Sec. 8001.11.3. CFD does not accept
surface anchored protective posts.

Permits are required for the following: public assembly, candles or other open flame, welding,
compressed gases, dust production, combustible fiber use & storage, flammable finishes, hazardous
materials use & storage, dry cleaning, motor vehicle repair, medical gas dispensing, industrial ovens,
combustible storage, high-piled storage, refrigeration equipment, flammable & combustible liquids,
gases and aerosols (use, dispensing & storage).
According to Municipal Ordinance and Article 1, Section 105 of the Fire Code, a special use permit
shall be obtained prior to final inspection once plans and installation are approved.

3-7 Ignition Source Control.
3-7.1 Application.
3-7.1.1 This section includes provisions for minimizing the
possibility of ignition of flammable LP-Gas--air mixtures re-
sulting from the normal or accidental release of nominal quan-
tities of liquid or vapor from LP-Gas systems installed-and operated in accordance with this code.
3-7.1.2 The installation of lightning protection equipment
shall not be required on LP-Gas storage containers.
NOTE: For information on lightning protection, see NFPA
780, Standard for the Installation of Lightning Protection Systems.
3-7.1.3 Grounding and bonding shall not be required on
LP-Gas systems.
NOTE: Because liquefied petroleum gas is contained in a
closed system of piping and equipment, the system need not
be electrically conductive or electrically bonded for protection
against static electricity. For information on grounding and
bonding for protection against static electricity, see NFPA 77,
Recommended Practice on Static Elect ii city
3-7.2 Electrical Equipment. - -
3-7.2.1 Electrical equipment and wiring shall be of a type
specified by and shall be installed in accordance with NFPA
70, National Electrical Codda, for ordinary locations.
Exception: Fixed electrical equipment in classfied areas shall comply
with 3-12.2.
I 3-7.2.2" Fixed electrical equipment and wiring installed
within classified areas specified in Table 3-7.2.2 shall comply
with Table 3-7.2.2 and shall be installed in accordance with
NFPA 70, NationalElectrical Code. This provision shall not apply to fixed electrical 'equipment at residential or commercial
installations of LP-Gas systems or to systems covered by Section
3-8. The provision shall apply to vehicle fuel operations.
Fired vaporizers, calorimeters with open flames, and other
areas where open flames are present either intermittently or
constantly shall not be considered electrically classified areas.

3-7.2.3 Electrical equipment installed on LP-Gas cargo vehi-
cles shall comply with 6-1.1.4.
3-7,3 Other Sources of Ignition.
3-7.3.1 Open flames or other sources of ignition shall not
be permitted in pump houses, cylinder filling rooms, or other
similar locations. Direct-fired vaporizers or indirect-fired va-
porizers attached or installed adjacent to gas-fired heat soufces
shall not be permitted in pump houses or cylinder filling
rooms.
3-7.3.2 Open flames (except as provided in Section. 3-6).,
cutting or welding, portable electric tools, and extension lights
capable of igniting LP-Gas shall not be permitted within classi-
fied areas specified in Table 3-7.2.2 unless the LP-Gas facilities
have been freed of all l,iquid and vapor or special precautions
have been taken under carefully controlled conditions.
3-8 12-Gas Systems on Vehicles (Other than Engine Fuel
Systems).
3-8.1 Application.
3-8.1.1 This section applies to nonengine fuel systems on
commercial, industrial, construction, and public service vehi-
cles such as trucks, semitrailers, trailers, portable tar kettles,
road surface heating equipment, mobile laboratories, clinics,
and mobile cooking units (such as catering and canteen vehi-
cles). LP-Gas systems on such vehicles shall be permitted to
be either vapor-withdrawal or liquid-withdrawal type. Included
are provisions for installations served by exchangeable (re-
movable) cylinder systems and by permanently mounted
containers.
3-8.1.2 This section shall not apply to the following:
Systems installed on mobile homes
Systems installed on recreational vehicles [see 3-1.3(i)]
Tank trucks, truck transports (trailers and semitrailers),
and similar units used to transport LP-Gas as cargo, which
are covered by Chapter 6
LP-Gas engine fuel systems on the vehicles covered by
Section 3-8 and those cited in 3-8.1.2, which are covered
by Chapter 8
3-8.2 Construction, Location, Mounting, and Protection of
Containers and Systems.
3-8.2.1' Containers shall comply with Section 2-2, and appur-
tenances used to equip them for service shall comply with
Section 2-3. In addition, the.following shall apply:
(a) ASME containers shall be constructed Tor a minimum
250 psi (1.7 MPa) design pressure.
(b) Containers installed in enclosed spaces on vehicles (in-
cluding recesses or cabinets covered in 3-8.2.2) shall be con-
structed as follows:
Cylinders shall be designed and constructed for at least a
240-psi (1.6-MPa) service pressure.
ASME containers shall be constructed for at least a 312.5-
psi (2.2-MPa) design pressure.
(c) Cylinders shall comply with 2-2.4.
(d) Permanently mounted containers shall comply with
3-8.2.3(c).
(e) LP-Gas fuel containers used on passenger-carrying vehi-
cles shall not exceed 200 gal (0.8 m3) aggregate water capacity.
