It is concluded from the field observations of the various soil types and the final results of the
moisture determinations that the soils in the upper three feet below finished grade at the
locations sampled have been sufficiently moistened to minimize the potential expansion of the
soils as recommended in our report under Project No. 68-1 l-23D, dated November 30, 1970.

lh.e approximate areas and depths of fi !led ground placed under our inspection in accordance
with the approved specifications ore shown on the attached Drawing No. 1, entitled "Locolion
of'Cbfnpocted Filled Ground." The gradi"3 pion used for the placement of filled ground was
prepared by McIntire & Quiros, Inc. dated January, 1968.
The approximate locations at which the tests were token and the finol test results are presented
on page Nos. 4 to 19, inclusive, under the "Tobie of Test Results." lhe laboratory dc!ermino-
tions of the maximum dry de,nsifies and optimum moisture contents of the major fill materials
are presented on pogc No. 20, under the "Laboratory Test Results." Some of the maximum dry
densiti~-~ show11 in the "Table of fost Results" were combinations of these. The tests were taken

The final results of tests and observations indicote that the comp::icted filled ground has been
placed at 90 percent of the maximum dry density or greater. It hos been determined that the
fill materials, compacted to 90 percent of the maximum dry density, hove a safe bearing value
ofat least 1510 pounds per square foot for one foot wide contimlous footings founded at o
minimum depth and placed five feet or more inside the top of compacted filled ground slopes.
If footirgs arc placed closer to the exposed slopes than 5 feet inside the top of compacted filled
ground slopes, the,e should be deepened one foot below a 1 1/2 horizontal to 1 vertical line
projected outward ond downward from a point 5 feet horizontally inside the top of compacted
filled ground slopes. Tests indicate that the compacted filled ground is adequate to satisfactorily
support the proposed one and two story wood frame dwelli,es without detrimental settlements.
In our report of the original investigation conducted at this subJivision, (Project No. 68-2-2C
dated Morc.h 8, 1968), we stated that some silty clay ond sandy clay soils had been fourJ on
the site that were expansive, and we recomrr•?nded that each lot be inspected during or ofter
grading to determine those lots in which such expansive soils exist within the uppar 3.0 feet.
This hos been done, and the followire lots hove been found to contain polentiol!y expansive
soils within the upper 3 .0 feet.

shown on Drawing No. 1, and the tests taken within the area are Test Nos. 257, 258, 264 and
270.

The application must be .s gned by the owner (or hi.s authorized representative) of the
property to be served. The total charges must be paid to the District at the time the
application is submitted.
If a service lateral is required, it will be installed by the Leucadia County Water
District. The service lateral is that part of the sewer system that extends_ froin the
main collection line in the street (or easement) to the point in the street (at or near
the applicant's property line) where the service lateral is connected to the applicant's
building sewer. The applicantl. is responsible for the construction,-at the applicant,s
expense, of the sewer pipeline (building sewer) from the applicant's plumbing to the
point in the street (or easement) where a connection is made to the service lateral.
The connection of the applicant's building sewer to the service lateral shall be made
by the applicant at his expense. The connection must be made in conformity with the
District's specifications, rules and regulations; and IT MUST BE INSPECTED AND APPROVED
BY THE DISTRICT BEFORE THE SEWER SYSTEM MAY BE USED BY THE APPLICANT. THE APPLICANT, OR
HIS AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE, MUST NOTIFY THE DISTRICT AT THE TIME INSPECTION IS DESIRED
ANY CONNECTION MADE TO THE SERVICE LATERAL OR COLLECTION LINE WITHOUT PRIOR APPROVAL AND
INSPECTION BY THE DISTRICT WILL BE CONSIDERED INVALID AND WILL NOT BE ACKNOWLEDGED.
After connection is complete, the property described above is subject to a monthly
sewer service charge, billed bi-monthly in advance. The rate will be governed by the
use of the property, single family, multiple dwelling or commercial._ Non-payment of
the sewer service charge is subject to a 5% penalty per month, plus disconnection if
