which fuel-burning, appliances are installed (and in dwelling units having attached
garages), the dwelling unit shall be provided with carbon monoxide alarms
:located as required for new.dwellings; the carbon monoxide alarms shall be
interconnected and hard Wired. Exception: Carbon monoxide alarms in existing,
areas need not be interconnected and hard wired,where the alterations or repairs

'25. The roof live load reduction must be determined by equation 16-~6 (sectionl6-
7.12.21, CBC). For a member supporting less than 200 sq'ft tributary area and
a 6 1/2 :12 pitched roof, the live load reduction comes out to .875. .875 x 20
psf = 17.5 psf. Please revise calcs accordingly. One response referenced
revised caics. Only a few sheets of icalIcs (sheets 1,6,9,10,and 12) were
received with this submittal and I don't see where this has been revised.
Another response stated the whole roof, is greater than 200 sq ft. The
reduction is based on the tributary roof area supported by the member.
26. Please show that the existing 4"x`14" header over sliding door C which supports
the ridge beam above is adequate for the added loads. Please j ustify the point
load used in the calc from the ridge above. It seems' low.., Page 3 of calcs
was referenced, but*this co'uld'not be found on, page 3. Also, if this a no.1
grade beam, specify it on the plans.
30. Please provide lateral calculations for this project. I see some shear walls
shown, but no hold. downs. No lateral calculations were received. I see no lateral
resistance shown at grids 3 and 4 lower level. Additionally, knee braces are
shown only in the direction parallel to the house at patio cover. Please address
lateral resistance of the patio cover in the direction perpendicular to the house.
Be sure a shear transfer detail is provided and referenced for each'condition.

FOUNDATION REQUIREMENTS
The City of Carlsbad requires, a §oil'report for this project. Provide a copy of the
project soil report. The report shall include'foundation design recommendations
based on the engineer's findings and shall comply with Section R401.4. The. City
of Carlsbad requires a soil.report for all 2story projects. (Please note that the'
only exception to the soil report, requirement is If a room addition is less than 500
sq. ft. in area and only one story, and a maximum allowable soil bearing value
used in any design must be 1000 psf for this exception. This project does not
meet the exception).
If the: soils engineer recommended that he/she review the foundation
excavations. Note on the foundation plan that "Prior to the contractor requesting

Uniform Mechanical Code, National -Electrical Code and state laws regulating energy
conservation, noise attenuation and,,accegs for the disabled. This plan review is based on
regulations enforced by the B U ilding Department. You may have other corrections based on
laws and ordinan,ce. by the' Planning Department, Engineering Department, Fire Department or
other departments. Clearance frorn those departments may be required prior to the issuance of
a building permit.
Present California law mandates that construction comply with the 2013 editioh,of the California
Code of Regulations (Title 24), which adopts the following model codes: 2012 IRC, 2012 IBC,
2012 UPC, 2012 UMC and 2011 NEC.
