Deliver all corrected sets of plans and calculations/reports directly to the City of Carlsbad Building
DepaKment, 1635 Faraday Ave., Carlsbad, CA 92008, (760),602-2700. The City will route the plans to
EsGil.Corporation and the Carlsbad Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments.
Bring one corrected.set of plans and calcUlations/reports to EsGil Corporation, 9 320 Chesapeake.'
Drive, Suite 208, San Diego, CA 92123, (858) 560-1468. Deliver all remaining sets of plans and
calculations/reports directly to the City of Carlsbad Building Department for routing to their Planning,
Engineering and Fire Departments.
NOTE: Plans that are submitted directly to EsGil Corporation only will not be reviewed by the City
Planning, -Engineering and Fire Departments until review by EsGil Corporation is complete.
The revised plans consist of a new roof deck and supporting beams and revised kitchenette and
walk-in closet. . The architectural part of the revisions are OK but the structural has.som6 code
compliance corrections as listed below.

condition is consistent with the plans. However, the 2nd part of FB-1 which supports the 2 nd
floor deck joists and the new roof deck joists is designed to span only 14 ft . Revised plan
sheet S2.1 A shows this beam'spanning 16-0".
2. FB-1 is designed to support only 0.7K/ft of LL. This is not consistent with the plans. The 16ft
span beam FB-1 supports-both the 2nd floor and roof deck joists. The min. LL is 6ft X 40
6ftX40= 0.48K/ft. Design FB-1 for the correct LL + DL as shown on the plans.
3.: Expand the calculations to show how you arrived at the DL used to design FB-1 and the new
deck-joists. Detail 1 O/A8.0 shows that you could have up to 4" of Lt Wt concrete and ti le on
the joists. This equals approx. 55 lbs/ sq ft.
Show -on revised plan sheet S2.1 A a drag strap between the new beam FB~l and the
existing~floor framing to drag the new lateral loads from the roof top deck into the existing
floor diaphragm.
How do you intend to resist the lateral loads on the raised tower for the elevator at the end of
the tower that has no shear wall?
