Apparently this fireplace was not permitted or inspected by the City at the time of construction and therefore, it is the intention of this firm to provide an "as- built" certification of said fireplace. Based on our physical inspection, numerous conversations with both the contractor and owner and review of all the documents, drawings and specifications that were used for the construction of said fireplace, it is our professional opinion that the fireplace was built in conformance to the Masonry Institute of America's Standard Drawings and Specifications for residential fireplaces and chimneys. This same standard has been approved by the City of Carlsbad and used by most, if not all, builders of masonry fireplaces in San Diego County. Therefore, it is our opinion that this fireplace/chimney has been built in accordance to City Standards. Should there bâ any questions or comments, please feel free to contact ,-this office.
