that you had added 789 square feet to the house. This changes all
the elements of the structure and will require a new plan check.
Attached is a Miscellaneous Receipt for that purpose. Please complete
the receipt and send or deliver it to us with your deposit in the
amount of $860. Your former plan check is cancelled and we will
issue a new plan check number to you.
The plan checker will retain the plans submitted and check them when
your new deposit is submitted.

considered potential development plans for the above site. The
natural terrain slopes gently to the NW and has been subdivision
graded.

The native soil is loamy clay, over formation bedrock. It is
moderately expansive and will not be detrimental if the following
recommendations are followed. It extends to a depth of one to three feet, is firm and dense in its existing state and should
afford acceptable 'foundation material for the proposed use. The
subsoil is a brown silty clay stone, very hard inplace with
varying degrees of fractures and breaking to a blocky texture.
It is volcanic and becomes more dense with depth. No ground
water should be encountered. Surface drainage should be directed to natural drainways, easements or street drainage.
Canyon Fault is approximately 12 miles S.W., Elsinore fault is There are no known faults located close to the site (Rose
approximately 30 miles to the NE).

existing pad which can be accomplished quite satisfactorily on the site, as regards soil adequacy. The top 6" of sod and
rootzone material should be striped and used only for landscape
areas. Imported fill material used within 3' of footings or slab
areas should be nonexpansive select material. We recommend that
the continuous footings of the structure be reinforced with at
least two #4 bars top and 2 bottom (total of 4) as minimum reinforcement and that the slabs be reinforced with #3 bars at

filled ground placed on certain areas of Lots 585 to 665, inclusive, 712 to 717, inclusive,
725, 726, 728, 729, 736, 737, 739, 740, and 742 and certain street areas of La Costa Meadows
Unit"m6. 4 in Carlsbad, California. The fills were placed during the period between March 17,
1971 and May 10, 1973. Certain lots of this subdivision were not graded during the above period
ond the classification of the expansivesoil anditions presented herein pertains only to those
lok graded to level building pads during this initial site development.
The approximate area and depths of filled ground placed under our inspection in accordance
with the approved specifications are shorn on the ottached Drawing No. 1, entitled ''Location
of Compacted Filled Ground." The grading plan used for the placement of filled sround wcs
prepamd by Rick Engineering Company and approved May 18, 1971.
The approximate locations at which the tests were taken and the final test results are presented

OF COMPACTED FILLED GROUND
Objective:
Obtain filled ground which is uniform and has adequate internal
strength to support any structures proposed. The method by which this is obtained is described herein.

land on which the grading is to be performed and shall be responsible for complying with them.
Water - An adequate water supply shall be provided so that
compaction of filled ground will not be delayed.
Soils Engineer - A soils engineer shall be retained to
provide direction in grading, testing for compaction and certification that the grading complies with grading
ordinances and with approved grading plans.

covered by filled ground, excavated or needed for brow
ditches, swales or other grading appurtenances shall be
cleared and grubbed. Trees, shrubs and grass, as well as

4. Additional Grading - Cut slopes shall be cut to the lines and grades as shown on the plans or set forth in the
applicable grading ordinance.
Cut slopes shall be protected from erosion by brow ditches. Brow
ditches shall be either earthen or lined with erosion resistant
material as shown on the plans or as recommended by the
engineer.

Embankments shall be protected from erosion by placing an earthen
berm along the.top of slope for the entire perimeter of the fill. Where drainage is brought down the slope, the drainage way
shall be lined with erosion resistant material to prevent loss of
embankment slopes.
Where eaves are located less than 5' horizontally from top of
fill slopes, eaves troughs shall be provided to prevent weakening
of slope due to water intrusion.

The provisions of Section 304 IC) of the Uniform Building Code states:
Sec. 304 (c) Expiration of Plan Check. Applications for which
no permit is issued within 180 days following the date of application
shall expire by limitation and plans submitted for checking may
thereafter be returned to the applicant or destroyed by the
Building Official. The Building Official may extend the time for
action by the applicant for a period not exceeding 180 days upon
written request by the applicant showing that circumstances
beyond the control of the applicant have prevented action from
expiration, the applicant shall resubmit plans and pay a new
being taken. In order to renew action on an application after
plan check fee.
We will hold your plans for 10 days at our office for you to pick up, after
