This plan review is limited to the technical requirements contained in the Uniform Building Code,
Uniform Plumbing Code, Uniform Mechanical Code, National Electrical Code and state laws
regulating energy conservation, noise attenuation and access for the disabled. This plan review
is based on regulations enforced by the Building Department. You may have other corrections
based on laws and ordinances enforced by the Planning Department, Engineering Department,
Fire Department or other departments. Clearance from those departments may be required
prior to the issuance of a building permit.
Code sections cited are based on the 1997 UBC.
The following items listed .need clarification, modification or change. All items must be satisfied
before the plans will be in conformance with the cited codes and regulations. Per Sec. 106.4.3,
1997 Uniform Building Code, the approval of the plans does no~ permit the violation of any
state, county or city law.
To speed up the recheck process, please note on this list (or a copy) where each
correction item has been addressed, i.e., plan sheet number, specification section, etc.
Be sure to enclose the marked up list when you submit the reyised plans.

Please make all corrections on the original tracings, as requested in the correction
list. Submit three sets of plans for commercial/industrial projects (two sets of plans
for residential projects). For expeditious processing, corrected sets can be
submitted in one of two ways:
1. Deliver all corrected sets of plans and calculations/reports directly to the City of
Carlsbad Building Department, 1635 Faraday Ave., Carlsbad, CA 92008, (760)
602-2700. The City will route the plans to EsGil Corporation and the Carlsbad
Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments.
2. Bring one corrected set of plans and calculations/reports to EsGil Corporation,
9320 Chesapeake Drive, Suite 208, San Diego, CA 92123, (858) 560-1468.
Deliver all remaining sets of plans and calculations/reports directly to the City of
Carlsbad Building Department for routing to their Planning, Engineering and Fire
Departments.
NOTE: Plans that are submitted directly to EsGil Corporation only will not be
reviewed by the City Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments until review by
EsGil Corporation is complete.
1. Each sheet of the plans must be signed by the person responsible for their
preparation, even though there are no structural changes. Business and
Professions Code. Please have the person responsible for the preparation of the
electrical plans sign all electrical sheets.
2. Glazing in the following locations should be of safety glazing material in
· accordance with Section 2406.4 for the type B doors
a) Fixed and sliding panels of sliding door assemblies and panels in swinging
doors other than wardrobe doors.
3. If exit signs are required, provide the following notes on the pl3ns, psr Sccti:m
1003.2.8.2:
a) Exit signs shall be located as necessary to clearly indicate the direction of
egress travel. No point shall be more than 100 feet from the nearest
visible sign.
b) Exit signs shall be readily visible from any direction of approach.
4. Please provide a framing plan for the lobby and conference the span appear to
exceed the allowable spans per the provided table.
5. Please have the document author and the principle designer of the L TG-1 form
sign the imprinted document.
6. Please note on the plans "AC Cable is not allowed in A, B, E, H, and I
occupancies. NM cable is restricted (without City approval) to one and two
family dwellings. Note on plans that an equipment ground conductor is to be
installed in all flexible conduits".
7. Please provide plans and calculations signed by the California State licensed
engineer or architect for the structural support of the 1155# rooftop air handler

PURPOSE: PROVIDE INSTALLATION STANO,t,RDS FOR ALL ROOF MOUNTED EQUIPMENT A.ND
PENETRATIONS ON COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL BUILDINGS.
INTENT:
POLICY:
A. Maintain roof integrity.
B. Prevenfhazardous condition rn f/emen who must fight fire on the roof.
C. Provide an installation that is 2esthetica!ly sensitive to the building and-the
adjoining properties: ·
1. All equipment shall be concealed from view and the design¼ shall meet the
. · approval of the Planning Department.
2. All equipment shall be specific~'.iy designed and approved for exterior use and
shall be approved by the City o~ Carlsbad Building Department.
3. All roof mounted equipment sh2'.t be on a platform which shall be an intearal
part of the roof--flashed and w2~erproofed. When a screen is· approved, ~ shall
have as few roof connections ·2.s possible and be structurally adequate.
4. All electrical,·plumbing, mecha:-,:cal duct work and related piping shall be inside
the building.and not on ths roc-7. All corine.ctions related to equipment sh2·11 be· ·
made in the same roof opsnin; on the platform or have the prior approval from
the building official.
5. Sewer vents shall be brought l:, one main vent below the roof and have one

contractor.
Warehouse buildings for which no specific use, occupant, product, activity or storage array has been
identified, shall be protected by sprinkler system designed to deliver water at the rate of .45 gallons
per square foot, throughout a 3000 square foot design area.

INSTALLATION
"Typical" Installation Canted Style Screen on a 25 ton. RTU
Shown below you will find a series of photographs that represent the basic process for
installing an Envisor equipment SGreen. RTU (Rooftop Units) very greatly in size,
construction, and performance features. Our engineers will evaluate the RTU's specific
.to a jobsite, to determine if we need to provide any additional components to
accommodate these features. We have designed the Envisor products to be versatile
enough that they can be field modified for adapting to most minor unforeseen field
conditions.
Each Envisor screen arrives as "knock down" kits that will require some field assembly
of the structural components, i.e. Corner Assemblies, Midspans and Extensions. The
RTU depicted below has
4 Corner Assemblies, no Midspans, and 2 Extensions.
* Approximate total man hours to install this unit : 8 man hours
Some additional variables that need to be considered once an Envisor shipment has
arrived:
* Unloading boxed and crated product from the delivery truck/trailer.
* Relocating product on to a roof.
* Associating screen pro~uct with the appropriate RTU. (Some locations may have
several units).
* Envisor screen kits do provide assembly hardware. (Screws and Bolts necessary
to assemble a screen).
* Large RTU installs will require at least 2 men; all jobs should be evaluated in
terms of "Man Hours".
* Cost to dispose of discarded packaging and trash from the jobsite.

it is a thermoformed plastic component, it allows
us to utilize the same raw material to replicate the

Envisor's ABS plastic panels can vary in height,
width, finish and color depending on their application, and
the architectural aesthetics. The metal components are
extruded or fabricated aluminum, and painted with a
complimentary color. A three part architectural specification
is available to download from bur website in a· PDF format.
Our Engineering Drawings are-generated in AutoCAD, with
electronic conversions availabJe for downloaq, also on our
website.
