Where any opening occurs under a bearing point, show that the existing header is adequate to carry the additional load. 5. Show locations of permanently wired smoke alarms with battery backup, per Section R314: a) Inside each bedroom. b) Outside each separate sleeping area in the immediate vicinity of the bedrooms. c) On each story, including basements. • NOTE: When more than one smoke alarm is required to be installed, the alarm devices shall be interconnected in such a manner that the actuation of one alarm will activate all of the alarms in the unit. 6. In existing buildings, when alterations, repairs or additions requiring a permit occur (or when one or more sleeping rooms are added), the dwelling unit shall be provided with smoke alarms located as required for new dwellings; the smoke alarms shall be interconnected and hard wired. Exception: Smoke alarms in existing areas need not be interconnected and hard wired where the alterations or repairs do not result in the removal of interior wall or ceiling finishes exposing the structure, unless there is an attic, crawl space, or basement available which could provide access for hard wiring and interconnection without the removal of interior finishes. Special inspection should be provided for all masonry construction in accordance with Section 1704.5.2 and Table 1704.5.1 (Section 1704.5.2 and Table 1704.5.3) 11. Provide the following note on the plans: "The contractor responsible for the construction of the seismic-force-resisting system shall submit a written Statement of Responsibility to the building official prior to the commencement of work on the system." CBC Section 1709. 12. Provide lateral calculations for the patio cover sealed and signed by a CA State Lie. P.E. 13. Provide / show the engineered design of the CMU block columns. The design should call out vertical reinforcement, hooks, ties and be drawn to scale. 14.
