Dear Mr, Kelly:
This letter is to advise you that Electro-Test, Inc. (ETI) has co I leted an evaluation of a bus
tap in the.right section of the UL listed, General Electric 1200 mp, 480/277 volt switchboard
located at the above address and an ETI Field Evaluation Lab I, No. M222858, has been
added adjacent to the GE nameplate on the section containing he modification.
The tap consists of the addition of two termi~al lugs to each ph se of the bus using existing
holes so the bus itself has not been modified. One of the termi als on each of the lugs
contain 3/0 AWG THHN type conductors which feed an adjace t 200 amp, 600 volt fused
disconnect switch. The other terminal on each lug contains a ngle #2 AWG, THHN type
conductor which supplies an adjacent 100 amp, 600 volt fused isconnect switch. The length
of both conductors is approximately 10 feet., Reference the att ched one-line diagram.
We visited the jobsite on January 7, 2000 to visually examine t e equipment and found it to be
generally.in conformance with applicable electrical standards ith the following exception:
The conductors were not properly supported at the add lugs, in particular the B
Phase ,lug. The conductors were installed in this lug so hat there was an excessive
tension at the lug that would cause it to rotate to the rig and short against the C
Phase bus bar if the single mounting bolt should come I ose. The electrical contractor
for the job provided support for these conductors anct th A and C Phase conductors to
relieve any tension that might cause the lugs to mo\'~ uld the bolt come loose.
