Nature Guard Fiber Cement Roofing Sha 5 are cement based panels comprised of Type III cement wood fiber and aluminum hydrate The finished products are 22 inches long and vary in thickness from 11/16 inch at the butt end to 3/8 inch at the tip The shakes have widths of 5 7 and 12 inches Accessory tiles such as starter pieces and hip and ridge units are provided Dry weight of the shake is 5 8 pounds per square foot and saturated weight is 7 7 pounds per square foot when installed with a 10 inch exposure 6 Installation 1 General The starter pieces measure 12 inches wide by 13 inches long and are fastened wrthtn 1 inch of the eave line The first course extends over the eave 1 to 2 inches The overhang on gables is 2 inches Remaining courses are installed with a 10 inch exposure to the weather with approximately V2 inch side (Oint spacing between the pieces The side joint spacing between adjacent courses is a minimum of 1V-inches Sheathing The products are installed on code
