The purpose of my review was to determine if a previously designed retaining wall (RW-3, copy enclosed) is adequate for the conditions shown on the new plan and profile. I have reviewed the retaining wall design calculations as well as the new conditions and it is my opinion that retaining watt RW-3 wiE perform satisfactorily and provide the necessary support for the given conditions, Le. 2:1 backfill on the upslope side and 3' exposed, 3' boulder steps and 2' embedded on the down slope side of the retaining wall. The following conditions shall be strictly adhered to: 1. The footing shall be poured against undisturbed material, 2. The retaining wall shall be installed in accordance with RW-3, RW-5,RW-6and RW-7 pages 1 and 2 (copies enclosed). 3. You shall notify the engineer designing the elevated pool bond beam that the proposed retaining wall may impose an additional load on the proposed bond beam. It shall be his responsibility to incorporate any loads placed on the bond beam by the retaining waH footing into his design of the bond beam. The load imparted to the soil at the down slope outer edge of the retaining wall footing is approximately 1500 pounds per lineal foot of wall.
