Carlsbad 02-999 04/11/02 • PLANS 1. Please make all corrections on the original tracings, as requested in the correction list. Submit three sets of plans for commercial/industrial projects (two sets of plans for residential projects). For expeditious processing, corrected sets can be submitted in one of two ways: 1. Deliver all corrected sets pf plans and calculations/reports directly to the City of Carlsbad Building Department, 1635 Faraday Ave., Carlsbad, CA 92009, (760) 602-2700. Electrical notes on sheet 1 should be updated to 96 coded i.e. notes E/ 3 thru E/5 are referencing 93 code ( E/4 should state all kitchen counter outlets are now to be GFCl protected). 4. Show or note that battery operated smoke detectors are required at all existing bedrooms and hallways leading to'existing bedrooms . 5. Window D at entry on sheet 2 is to be tempered as within 24" of door. The door size was not specified at this location and note or shown on the plans that the maximum drop is 1 inch for the out swinging door shown. Section 1003.3.1.6 6. Show or note that existing garage has 5/8X protection where in common with entry now. Show or note that existing door is a fire rated door and self closing. 7. The glass sliding door is not showing a landing ( minimum 36" in width) at exterior of door. Allowed a 8" drop maximum but then a landing should be provided equal to door width. 8. There is what appears to be a note in ink at den stating that window adjacent to planter is to be relocated. Please specify size of new header if this is the case. 9. Show fireplace termination to be2 ft higher than any point within 10 ft on sheet 3. Carlsbad 02-999 04/11/02 10. On sheet 5 could not locate detail S1/5 as referenced at entry . 11. Minimum length of shear panel is 2'8" for a maximum height of 10 ft to be conventional. 2'6" is shown at entry area. 12. The 2'6" and 3'4" shear panels shown at entry on sheet 5 have side lights shown on sheet E ? 13. The anchor bolt spacing noted on sheet 5 are referencing W bolts thru out. 14. Detail and reference the hold down bolts required i.e. retro fit hold downs to have detail reference to appropriate locations showing all thread size, depth of embedment and epoxy type. Detail 9/9 is stating hold down bolt per spec's but could not locate where this was noted. Could specify SSTB 20's . 15. Could not read some of the length of shear panels on sheet 5 i.e. just before the curved wall on sheet 5. 16. Specify how obtaining the radius for curved plates show for this area i.e. is the sill plate cut from pressure treated %" or 1 1/8 " plywood or from dimensioned lumber. 17. Appears that retro fit hold downs will be required at existing foundations. Note on cover sheet special inspection required for epoxy anchors and complete attached form. 18. Minimum slope for "flat roofs" is Vi" per foot or must design for pondage. 1/8" is noted on roof framing plan. 19. Note on the plan that all roofing is to be Class A minimum per City policy. 20. The length's of the beams should be noted on the plans i.e. BM 1 so can verify the back span and over turning effects of these beams. 21. Details on sheet 7 should reflect edge or boundary nailing of the roof diaphragm to blocks . A-35 spacing should be noted. 22. Details shown on sheet 8 again should reflect edge nailing to roof rafters and could not locate how these members are attached to the top plates i.e. A-35 spacing. 23. Section A/8 should reflect how wood is being protected i.e. 26 galv. metal. Note that any existing foundation vents to be will be replaced. Carlsbad 02-999 04/11/02 24. The removal of existing wall at living room wall and replacing with PLM beam with various point loads is not conventional framing. The vertical loads to include loads on foundation and the lateral loads need to be reviewed by licensed architect and engineer and calculations provided to show that the proposed vertical and lateral load path in conjunction with the existing loads are adequate 25. Should provide a GFCI outlet at the exterior if none are existing. 26. The window schedule shall clearly describe the required U-factor and solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) values and demonstrate compliance with the Title 24 energy calculations. 27. All sheets of the latest CF-1R form must be imprinted onto the plans (sheets 1 of 3, 2 of 3 and 3 of 3 must be included). 28.
