In accordance with'your request, we have observed the foundation excavations for the proposed addition
to the front'of the existing single-family residence at the subject site.
The footings have been excavated to the proper depth and width into competent bearing soils and are in
compliance with the approved building plans. As recommended in the referenced geotechnical report
(Reference No. 2), deepened footings may filled with a lean slurry mix to the bottom of the proposed 7 f, .
ooting. Foundation excavations, soil expansion characteristics and soil bearing capacity are in
-accordance with the referenced geotechnical report.

the International Residential Code, International Building Code, Uniform Plumbing Code,
Uniform Mechanical Code, National Electrical Code and state laws regulating energy--
cbnservation, noise attenuation and access for the disabled. This plan review is based on .
-regulations enforced by the Building Department. You may have other corrections based on
laws -and ordinance by the Planning Department, Engineering Department, Fire Department or'
other departments. Clearance from those departments may be required prior to the issuance of
a building permit.
Present California law mandates that construction comply with the 2013 edition of the California
Code of Regulations (Title 24), which adopts the following model codes: 2012 IRC, 2012 IBC, . .2012 UPC, 2012 UMC and 2011 NEC.
The above regulations apply, regardless of the code editions adopted by ordinance.
The-following items listed need clarification, modification or change. All items must be satisfied
before the plans will be in conformance with the cited codes and regulations. Per Sec. 105.4 of
the 2012- International Building Code, the approval of the plans does not permit the violation of
any state, 'county or city law.
To speed up the recheck process, please note on this list (or a copy) where each
correction item has been addressed, i.e., plan sheet number, specification section, etc.

not be done. Some examples are no energy calculations or soils report

The scope of work to include remodel of 1215 sq ft. The remodel consist of tear
down completely to existing floor framing /foundation.
It appears this project will be required to be fire sprinklered due to size of
addition and only sub floor remains of existing dwelling. Please verify if the City
Fire Marshall and clearly note on the plans whether this is to be fire sprinklered
on not.
For plans submitted for plan check on or after 7/11/14, provide a Prescriptive or
Performance energy design, demonstrating compliance with current 2013 energy,
efficiency standards.

the appropriate HERS provider data registry. Before the next plan review, please
register the energy design and resubmit plans with completed forms showing the

blank activity description boxes provided for that purpose and place a check in the box immediately to the left of the added activity description. For each activity descrribed, pick one or more best
management practices (BMPs) from the list located along the top of the form. Then place an X in the box at the place where the activity row intersects with the BMP column. Do this for each activity that was
checked off and for each of the selected BMPs selected from the list. For Example — If the project includes site access across dirt, then check the box to the left ofSite Access Across Dirt". Then review

ISSTANDARD OF CARE
In providing services under this Agreement, dre Engineer %~rill endeavor to perform in a manner consistent with that degree of care ~nd skill

VERIFICATION OF EXISTING CONDITIONS
Inasmuch as the remodeling.and/oi rehabilitation of:1the existing structure requires that certain assumptions be made by the Engineer
regarding existing conditions, and because some of these a9sumptions may not be verifiable without the Client's expending substantial sums
of money or destroying otherwise adequate or serviceable portions of the structure, the Client agrees to bear all costs, losses and-exr~enses,
including the cost of the Engineer's Additi6nal Services; arising from the discovery of concealed or unknown conditions in the existing
structure.
CHANGED CONDITIONS
If, during the term of this Agreement, circumstances or conditions that were not originally contemplated by or known to the Engiiieer are
subsequently revealed, to the'extent that, they. affect - the ic'o-pe of services, compensation, schedule, allocation of risks or other material
terms of this Agreement, the Lgineer may call for rerieg6tiatio n- of appropriate portions of this Agreement. The Engineer shall notify the
