When building your interior garage wall be sure to
follow all citv and countv building codes. This drawing
is iust an example of how the wall could be built.
-Find the center point between both garages. The center of the 2 x 4 framed walls must
be on the center point between the two garages.
-The 2 x 4 framing must be secured to the concrete floor with bolts (Redheads) and/or
concrete nails. Also, secure the 2 x 4 he to the front and back of the garage where it
meets the walls.
-When building the 2 x 4 framing, the 2 x 4’s must be placed every 16 inches on center.
-The 2 x 4 hing must extend all the way up to the plywood ceiling. Be sure not to
nail or screw the 2 x 4’s into the phw ood ceilinghoof. If so, the roof will leak and
vou will be responsible for the cost of the repairs.
-Use 112 or 5/8 inch sheet rock/drywall.
-Drywall must be installed all the way up to the plywood ceilinghoof to create a fire
break.
-Homeowners are responsible for the cost of building the wall, if they so choose to build
the wall.
-Homeowners are responsible for maintaining the wall. Including but not limited to
termites, fire, damage done to the wall by homeowners parking cars, etc.
-No electrical wires and or plumbing will be run in these walls.
-You the homeowner are responsible to build the wall in accordance to
current city and county building codes.
-I am not licensed to provide building specs. This is simply an idea of how a wall in the
garage could be built. These instructions and drawing are not intended to be used as
