Submit three sets of plans for commercial/industrial projects (two sets of plans for
residential projects) For expeditious processing, corrected sets can be submitted in
one of two ways
1 Deliver all corrected sets of plans and calculations/reports directly to the City of
Carlsbad Building Department, 2075 Las Palmas Drive, Carlsbad, CA 92009, (760)
438-1161 The City will route the plans to EsGil Corporation and the Carlsbad
Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments
2 Bring one corrected set of plans and calculations/reports to EsGil Corporation,
9320 Chesapeake Drive, Suite 208, San Diego, CA 92123, (619) 560-1468 Deliver
all remaining sets of plans and calculations/reports directly to the City of Carlsbad
Building Department for routing to their Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments
NOTE Plans that are submitted directly to EsGil Corporation only will not be
reviewed by the City Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments until review by
EsGil Corporation is complete
• 21 ) Show wall bracing Every exterior wood stud wall and mam cross-stud partition
shall be braced at each end within 8'-0" and at least every 25 feet of length
Section 2326 11 3 and Table 23-l-W Please show the braced wall length or
alternate braced wall length and requirements from UBC Section 2326 11 4 on the
plans or provide design and calculations from a licensed Engineer or Architect for
the lateral analysis of the structure proposed and have the Engineer or Architect
stamp seal with expiration date and sign the calculations and the structural sheets
of the plans On page 2 starting at bottom at optional door and working
clockwise the following corrections would have to be done to comply with
current conventional standards per Section 2326 113 Note let in braces are no
longer allowed as a lateral braced system m Seismic Zones 3 and 4

and note it must extend to upper roof sheathing Provide holdowns at each

downs and shear per your noted schedule of Vi ply 10d 4 & 12 HDSA's to 4
x4's with SSTB 2(Ts Note minimum 5/8 anchor bolts at 24" o/c , minimum 2
per shear panel A-35's at 12" o/c above these shear walls

maximum is 20% plus any removed glazing Your only possible option is a
computer program probably doing the entire house

MINIMUM CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATIONS
These are minimum specifications established by the Uniform Building Code These specifications apply in the absence of more restrictive specifications in the approved

I FOUNDATION AND UNDERFLOOR
1 Concrete Strength Concrete for footings must have a
minimum compressive strength of 2500 psi at 28 days and
composed of 1 part cement, 2 1/2 parts sand, 3 1/2 parts of
3/4" maximum size rock with not more than 7 gallons of
water per sack of cement
2 Wood and Earth Separation Foundations supporting
wood must extend at least 6" above the adjacent finish
grade [UBC Section 1806 1] Provide 18" clearance under
wood joists and 12" clearance under wood girders which are

3 Concrete Slabs Slabs on grade must be at least 3 1/2"
