RESOLUTION NO. 1847
RE LUTION COMMENDING VINA. H NK1i.I.S AND STATING THE SUPPORT OF THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A PERMANENT ART GALLERY IN CARLSBAD.
WHEREAS, Mrs. Vina Hankins, a long time respected citizen
of this City and an outstanding local artist has recently executed
a Last Will and Testament by the terms of which the City will re-
ceive upwards of Forty Thousand ($40,000.00) Dollars for the es-
tablishment of a permanent Art Gallery in the City of Carlsbad,
and;
WHEREAS, Vina Hankins does solicit the support of the public
in general and of the City for the establishment of such an Art
Gallery for this community;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Carlsbad City Counci'
does hereby commend Mrs. Vina Hankins for her public spirited
generosity and does further urge and encourage other private citizt
in this community to follow Mrs. Hankins public spirited example
in supporting the establishment of an Art Gallery for this City;
and does further express this City Council's determination to take
all reasonable steps on behalf of the City, now and in the future,
for the establishment of such Art Gallery.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
of Carlsbad at a regular meeting held May 4 , 1971, by the
following vote, to wit:
AYES: Counci 1 men McComas, Jardi ne , Cas tro and Lewis
NOES : None.
ABSENT: Councilman Dunne
