RESOLUTION NO. 2018
WHEREAS, without additional funding provided for in Proposi-
tion 1 on the June 6 Primary Election Ballot, the Cal-Vet farm and
)home loan program will be unable to grant any further loans; and
WHEREAS, the California Department of Veterans Affairs now
has more than 3000 approved applications now on file and anticipates
another 5000 during 1972; and,
WHEREAS, California now has 600,000 Vietnam veterans, in- I creasing at the rate of 8000 each month, every one of whom should

13 have the same opportunity for low-interest loans offered previous
14 veterans; and,
15 WHEREAS, the Cal-Vet farm and home loan program is self-
16 supporting and self-liquidating at no cost to the taxpayers; and,
17 WHEREAS, this is an exemplary program acclaimed as a model
18 throughout the nation; and,
19 WHEREAS, fourteen previous Cal-Vet bond issues submitted to
20 the voters since inception in 1921 have been approved; and,
21 WHEREAS, the benefits derived from such loans are not only
22 incalcvlqble to the veteran, but also to the homebuilder, the
23 businessmen and to the California economy in general,
24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the

Carlsbad, California, do hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution No. 2018 was presented at an adjourned regular
meeting of the City Council held on the 24th day of May, 1972,
and was duly passed and adopted by said City Council and signed
and approved by the Mayor of that City, and that said Resolution
was passed and adopted by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Dunne, McComas and Chase.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilmen Lewis and Frazee.
