RESOLUTION NO. 3004
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD OPPOSING JET AIRPORT FACILITIES AT CAMP PENDLETON AND OPPOSING MAJOR EXPANSION OF PALOMAR AIRPORT.
WHEREAS, the Orange County Board of Supervisors and others seek
to create a large jet airport facility at Camp Pendleton, and,
WHEREAS, the construction of such a jet airport would produce the
following serious adverse consequences:
1. The construction of such a jet airport facility would
effectively dump an Orange County problem upon San Diego County
citizens;
2. A jet airport facility would deprive the Pendleton Marine
Base of essential training areas which are necessary for present and
future national defense;
3. Such a jet airport and all of the related facilities which
would be necessary for its operation, would create massive and as
yet unknown environment a1 consequences;
4. Such a facility, if built at Camp Pendleton, would deprive
the entire Southern California area of one of the few existing beautiful
open green areas which still exists within the now existing seventeen
mile stretch between Oceanside and San Clemente;
5. Would irreparably damage an existing ecological preserve
at Camp Pendleton, and,
WHEREAS, there are similar forces presently working with the view of
expanding Palomar airport facilities into a major jet airport facility, and
WHEREAS, similar adverse consequences would be imposed upon the
entire Carlsbad and surrounding area if such an expansion were undertaken
at Palomar airport,
BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Carlsbad does,
for the above stated reasons, deem the construction of a large airport facility
at Camp Pendleton and the expansion of Palomar airport into a major jet

ABSENT: None.
in particular to the interests of a.11 citizens of San Diego County within
facility to be contrary to the best interests of the public at large and contrar
both areas are located, and this Council does therefore strenuously urge
that each of these projects not be undertaken now or at anytime in the
future.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED, by the City Council of the
adjourned City of Carlsbad at an/regular meeting of the City Council held on the 19th
day of October , 1972, by the following vote:
