HomeMy WebLinkAbout1974-01-02; City Council; Resolution 3330RESOLUTION NO. 3330 5 6 7 8 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, REGARDING THE CURRENT POWER SHORTAGE. i WHEREAS, the current power shortage is likely to become more acute with the next few months, and even more critical in the future; and WHEREAS, it is apparent the current resources are insufficient to bring about a reversal of this trend; and 16 17 18 9 10 ed and received approval of the Atomic Energy Commission, and various environmental protecti on agencies ; and WHEREAS, this nuclear site had specifically received the 11 12 23 24 25 WHEREAS, the United States must seriously consider the advisability of becoming independent of foreign fuel resources at the easrlies possible time; and WHEREAS, the California Coastal Zone Conservation Commission City of Carlsbad that an urgent request be directed to the California Coastal Zone Commission to rescind its previous decision 1 and grant immediate approval for the further development of the 13 has denied the request for expansion of the San Onofre Nuclear ll 14 15 generating station; and WHEREAS, this project had previously been extensively consider 19 20 21 22 approval of Congress; and WHEREAS, prompt action is necessary to begin work that will lead to development of resources of future needs, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 San Onofre Nuclear generating station. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City Council on the 2nd day of January, 1974, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Cmn. Dunne, McComas, Lewis, Chase and Frazee.
