RESOLUTION NO. 5280
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING A COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD AND CALTRANS FOR PARTIAL CONSTRUCTION FUNDING
OF BIKE LANES ON CARLSBAD BOULEVARD AND AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING
THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad does hereby resolve as follows:
1. That that certain agreement between the City of Carlsbad and
CalTrans for partial construction funding in the amount of $14,000 for bicycle
lanes on Carlsbad Boulevard, a copy of which is attached hereto, marked as
Exhibit 3, and incorporated herein by reference, is hereby approved.
2. That the City Manager of the City of Carlsbad is hereby authorized
and directed to execute said agreement for and on behalf of the City of Carlsbad
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of
the City of Carlsbad held the 3rd day of January , 1978.

WHEREASt Section 11 0% SB 283 CCH 1130/751 authorized the Secretary
of the Business and Transportation Agency to allocate funds to
make improvements on the Bikecentennial Route as designated by
Resd.uthn8 Chapter 31 of the 1975-76 Regular Session of the
Legislature, and
'WHEREAS, Carlsbad Boulevard is located on the Pacific Coast Bike-
centennial Bicycle Route and has been found to be lackin9 adequate
width for bicycling, and

WHEFlEAS, the Comprehensive Planning Organization CCPO) has approved
a Local Transit Funds (LTF) Claim dated July 18, 1977 to fund con-
struction of bike lanes on Carlsbad Boulevard, and
WHEREAS, funds are available under the provis$ons of Section 11 of
SB 283 (CH Z130/75) to participate in the cast of adding tho addi-
tional width necessary to provide the aforesaid delineated bike lanes,
and
WHEREAS, the Business and Transportation Agency Secretary has approved
and allocated $14,000 far Construction o€ improvements to provide
bike lanes on Carlsbad Boulevard, and
WHEREAS, in consideration of the above premises, it is the desire af

fT IS MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD ANR AGREED:
1, That the design, construction and delineation of the bike lanes
shall conform to the criteria and specifications established by
the State of California, Business and Transportation Agency, Depart-
mnt of-TrEanspOrtatisn, €or the development, planning and construe-
tion of bfiways in California,
2. That, should any portion o€ the project be financed with
Federal Funds, or State gas tax funds, all applicable procedures
and policies relating to the'use of such funds shall apply not-
withstanding other provisions of this Agreement.
