RESOLUTION NO. 5399
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING LEGISLA- TION TO LIMIT CERTAIN PUBLICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR ORDINANCES.
WHEREAS , the Southern Cal iforni a City C1 erks ' Association supports
legislation to reduce publication costs for ordinances by eliminating the
requirement to publish Basic Wage Rates; and
WHEREAS, the California State Legislature enacted legislation in
1977 eliminating said requirement for publishing Basic Wage Rates; and
WHEREAS, Government Code Section 50021 , et seq, requires that
ordinances be piblished in full in a newspaper of general circulation; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Carlsbad and its
citizens to 1 imit the pub1 ication requirement for ordinances to number, title,
a brief description of the purpose and subject matter of the ordinance, and
a statement that copies of the ordinance are on file in the office of the
City Clerk and iire open to public inspection.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City
of Carlsbad supports legislation that will limit the requirement for legal
publication of ordinances to number, title, a brief description of the purpose
and subject matter of the ordinance, and a statement that copies of the
ordinance are on file in the office of the City Clerk and are open to public
inspection.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby directed to
send copies of this resolution to our state representatives and to other
general law cities in the County of San Diego.
