RESOLUTION NO. 7375
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING
THE CLASSIFICATION AND SALARY PLAN OF
THE CITY TO INCLUDE THE CLASSIFICATION
OF GRAPHICS TECHNICIAN.
WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends and the City Council
concurs, that the classification of Graphics Technician should
be included in the city's Classification and Salary Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council authorizes and directs the City
Manager to add the classification of Graphics Technician as
described in Attachment A, attached hereto and made a part
thereof.
3. That the City Council authorizes and directs the City
Manager to add the title of Graphics Technician to the
appropriate city Salary Plan-as shown on Attachment B, attached
hereto and made a part thereof.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the
Carlsbad City Council held on the18th day of october , 1983,
by the following vote, to wit:
AYES : Council Wmbers Casler, Lewis, Kulchh, Chick and Prescott
NOES : None
ABSENT: None

GRAPHICS TECHNICIAN
. DEFINITION
Under general supervision to create, design, and produce varied
graphic art projects; and to do related work as assigned.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Prepare and update city locational and base maps.
Prepare layouts for publications, brochures, posters, projected visual aids, cartography, displays, and other projects.
Prepare two and three dimensional exhibits and displays.
Prepare a variety of display and visual aid materials such as
signs, posters, charts, and graphs.
Prepare other related graphic work as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledae of:
A variety of printing and graphic techniques, materials,
designs, and processes.
Composition and production techniques.
Ability to:
Prepare displays, exhibits, charts, graphs, and other public representations.
Draw free hand artwork.
Produce quality layouts in various styles and media.
Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Experience and Education
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that
could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge
and abilities would be:
Experience
Two years of diversified graphic or commercial arts
experience including the preparation and production of
Graphics Technician (cont.)
graphic art presentations, or
Education
Completion of an associate of arts degree or certificate
program in commercial or graphic arts, or a closely
related field.
