RESOLUTION NO. 7770
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, DECLARING ITS INTENT TO RECONSTRUCT CARLSBAD
BOULEVARD TO FOUR LANES AS SOON AS A SUITABLE SHORE
NO. 3098.
PROTECTION SYSTEM CAN BE INCLUDED IN THE PROJECT - CONTRACT
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, has
etermined it is necessary and in the public interest to reconstruct the
arlsbad Boulevard Bridge and Carlsbad Boulevard from Tamarack Avenue to Cannon
oad; and
WHEREAS, reconstruction of the bridge must go forward or the City will lose
he funds for its reconstruction; and
WHEREAS, recent storms have shown the area where
le widened to be subject to storm damage; and
WHEREAS, it is the City's intent to participate
lrotection systems in conjunction with State agencies
lroject; and
Carlsbad Boulevard is to
n experimental shore
as part of the roadway
WHEREAS, upon the determination of a suitable storm damage shore protection
ystem, the roadway project will proceed; and
WHEREAS, it is the City's intent to address the environmental issues raised
n the Federal Environmental Assessment Report and to meet Federal Highway
Xandards;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad
1s follows:
1. The above recitations are true and correct.
2. The City will proceed with the reconstruction of the Carlsbad
loulevard Bridge and roadway project from Tamarack Avenue to .25 miles south of
-atmarack Avenue as Phase I of this project.
3. The C ty will construct Carlsbad Boulevard from .25 miles south of
-amarack Avenue to Cannon Road as Phase I1 of this project as soon as a suitable

shore protection system can be incorporated into the project.
4. The City Engineer is authorized to continue the action to obtain
the necessary agreements and permits.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Counc
if the City of Carlsbad held the 2nd day of Od=~ber , 1984, by
the following vote, to wit:
