RESOLUTION NO. 8036
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN OF THE CITY TO
INCLUDE THE CLASSIFICATION OF ADELIINISTRATIVE
ASSISTANT II/ARTS COORDINATOR.
WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends and the City Council
concurs, that the classification of Administrative Assistant 11/
Arts Coordinator should be included in the city's Classification
and Salary Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council authorizes and directs the City
Manager to add the classification of Administrative Assistant 11/
Arts Coordinator as described in Attachment A, attached hereto
and made a part thereof.
3. That the City Council authorizes and directs the City
Manager to add the title of Administrative Assistant II/Arts
Coordinator to the appropriate city salary plan as shown on
Attachment B, attached hereto and made a part thereof.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the
Carlsbad City Council held on the 21st day of MY I 1985,
by the following vote, to wit:

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT I1
ARTS COORDINATOR
DEFINITION
Under direction, to perform professional technical and administrative
work involved in coordinating a city-wide arts program; and to do related work as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Assist in the development of goals, objectives, policies, and
priorities for the organizational function to which assigned.
Assist in budget preparation, analysis, and preparation.
Represent the city in community and at professional meetings as
required.
Prepares, tracks, and review applications for funding assistance with other governmental agencies and private foundations.
Prepare complete reports and make presentations on the formulation
of policy and procedure, staffing, and organizational requirements.
Provide technical and staff assistance to the Arts Commission.
Plan and implement informational programs to stimulate and maintain community interest in the arts.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledae of:
Principles of organization, administration, budget, and personnel management.
Visual and performing arts,
Principles and practices of development and management of
arts programs in the public sector.
Grant proposal writing and administration.
Ability to:
Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
Work cooperatively with management staff, employees, the
Arts Commission and others.
Arrange and coordinate special events,

Experience and Education
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience
Two years of administrative, budgeting, or other management
analysis experience of which one year was involved in coordinating a visual or performing arts program.
Education
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited
college or university with major work in public administration or related field. in public administration or related field is desirable.
A master's degree
