A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN OF THE CITY
TO REVISE THE CLASSIFICATION OF SENIOR CITIZEN COORDINATOR
WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends and the City Council concurs, that the
classification and salary range of Senior Citizen Coordinator should be auended.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
Califomia, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council authorizes and directs the City Manager to revise
the classification of Senior Citizen Coordinator to include the duties of
1) Administer the Mobile Meals and Nutrition program, and 2) Coordinate the
transportation of the Seniors to various programs and activities,
3. That the City Council authorizes and directs the City Manager to amend
the salary range of the Senior Citizen Coordinator from $1,149 - $1,467
biweekly to $1,266 - $1,616 biweekly as described in Attachment B, attached
hereto and made a part thereof.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City
Council held on the gth day of June 1987, by the following vote,
to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Kulchin, Mamaux, Pettine, Larson
NOES: None

SENIOR CITIZEN COORDINATOR
DEFINITION
Under direction, to perform professional technical and administrative work
involved in the City's senior citizen program; and to do related work as
assigned.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Prepare and administer senior citizen program budget.
Administer the mobile meals program and the nutrition program.
Supervise and participate in a variety of senior citizen program activities.
Coordinate the transportation of the Seniors to various programs and
activities.
Make recommendations to the Director of Parks and Recreation regarding the
organization, scheduling and staffing of various senior citizen program act iv it ies .
Coordinate program activities with other City departments and divisions and with
outside agencies.
Supervise, train and evaluate assigned staff.
Maintain activity and progress reports.
Prepare periodic reports and news releases.
Requisition supplies.
Provide staff assistance and support to the Carlsbad Senior Citizens
Association.
Attend meetings and provide staff support to the Commission/Board including the
preparation and presentation of technical staff reports.
Respond to citizen complaints and requests for information.
Assist in the development and submittal of applications and grants to
governmental agencies and private foundtaions.
OUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of
Principles and practices of community organization and administration.
Concepts of intergroup relations.
Current literautre and development in gerontology.

First aid methods and safety precautions related to recreational settings.
Principles of supervision, training and evaluation.
Ability to
Analyze senior concerns and present approaches to their resolution.
Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in
the course of work.
Supervise, train and evaluate assigned staff.
Experience and Education
Any combination equivalent to the experience and education that could likely
provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
