RESOLUTION NO. 90-448
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE MISCELLANEOUS
SALARY SCHEDULE OF THE CITY TO REVISE THE SALARY
RANGES FOR PLANNING TECHNICIAN I, PLANNING
TECHNICIAN 11, ASSISTANT PLANNER, ASSOCIATE
PLANNER, AND SENIOR PLANNER.

WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends and the City Council concurs, t:
the salary ranges for Planning Technician I, Planning Technician 11, Assistant
Planner, Associate Planner, and Senior Planner be adjusted.
10 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
I1 Carlsbad, California, as follows:
12 1. That the above recitation is true and correct.

Range 35, $921 - $1,119; adjust Planning Technician 11 from Range 39, $958 - 16
17 $1,165, to Range 50, $1,069 - $1,299; adjust Assistant Planner from Range 57,
18 $1,146 - $1,393, to Range 64, $1,229 - $1,493; adjust Associate Planner from

DEPARTMENT: Planning Department
BASIC FUNCTION: Under general supervision, to perform a variety of technical wor

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
This is the entry level class in the technical planning series. Positions in this class a
normally considered to be in a training status and perform a variety of technical plannin
related duties requiring technical training and education, but little practical experiencl

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
This is the entry level of the professional planner series. This class may be distinguish(
from the next higher class of Associate Planner by the level of difficulty and complexity
work performed, and the level of independent work skills required. Incumbents in tl
class perform a variety of professional tasks of moderate difficulty with a minimum
supervision. Work is normally reviewed on completion and for overall results.

This is the full journey level of the professional planner series, and involves tl:

planning and zoning problems. Responsibilities include the preparation of specific repor
and plans with opportunity for independent judgement in planning work details ar
making technical determinations. This class may be distinguished from the Assista:
Planner position and the next higher class of Senior Planner by the level of difficulty a1
