RESOLUTION NO. 94-210
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA DIRECTING
MAYOR TO EXECUTE THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETV
THE CITY OF CARLSBAD AND LEGO PARK PLANNING INC
WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad recognizes that future fiscal stabi

dependent upon development of a diverse business base drawing from tou
II business, industry, commerce, agriculture and housing; and a
9 WHEREAS, development of the Carlsbad Ranch Project, has the pot1
10 for providing a substantial long-term positive economic benefit to the City; and
11 WHEREAS, the City Council directed staff to implement the Car
I.2 Ranch Economic Development Strategy, which included an evaluation of ecor
l3 (/incentives which could be offered by the City of Carlsbad to the Carlsbad Ranch pr

15 to facilitate its development; and
16 /I WHEREAS, LEGO World A/S, as a key partner in the developme

the location of the first U.S. LEGO Family Park; and I.9
a schedule of economic incentives to be offered to them, if Carlsbad were select1 18
Carlsbad Ranch, solicited from the City of Carlsbad and other state and local agen

WHEREAS, the City participated in a meeting on May 12, 1993
various state and local agencies for the purpose of presenting a schedule of sp
incentives to LEGO World A/S; and

24 WHEREAS, City staff presented a schedule of proposed incentives which v1
25 be recommended to the City Council for approval; and

WHEREAS, Carlsbad, California was selected as the site for LEGO’s first
Family Park; and

1 WHEREAS, LEGO World A/S is now requesting that the proposed incen

6 WHEREAS, the City Council agrees to terms and provisions which sha
7 ncluded in a Memorandum of Understanding,

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the Ci
