RESOLUTION NO. 99-260
a RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE CARLSBAD
BEACH EROSION COMMITTEE TO SOLICIT SUPPORT OF THE
NORTH COUNTY COASTAL CITIES TO REQUEST THE SAN
DIEGO ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNMENTS SHORELINE EROSION COMMITTEE TO DEVELOP A REGIONAL BEACH
STABILIZATION PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Carlsbad coastline, as well as the remaining coastal sections in
Oceanside Littoral Cell, has been continually eroding at an alarming rate during the past cent1
and
WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Beach Erosion Committee has been discussing the benefits z
opportunities of implementing a beach stabilization project along the Carlsbad coastline; and
WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Beach Erosion Committee recommends that a regio
approach to beach stabilization is an effective way of planning for future shoreline enhancemer
and
WHEREAS, The San Diego Association of Governments Shoreline Erosion committee
the regional agency that deals with coastal issues throughout San Diego county; and
WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Beach Erosion Committee recommends that the Cities
Oceanside, Encinitas, Solana Beach and Del Mar be solicited to support a regional program
designing and implementing a regional beach stabilization program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsb:
