2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE
3 APPLICATION FOR A GRANT FROM THE CALIFORNIA
LIBRARY LITERACY SERVICE4
5 WHEREAS, the Carlsbad City Library Literacy Program provides training
6 to meet the literacy needs of adults; and
7 WHEREAS, the Carlsbad City Library Literacy Program supports the goals of

the City Council and the objectives of the Library; and
9 WHEREAS, the California State Library will provide additional support for the
10
Literacy Program with grant funds;11
12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
13 Carlsbad, California, as follows:
14 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council authorizes the Carlsbad City Library to apply to the
16
California State Library for the California Library Literacy Service Act funds.

3. That the City Council accepts any award of grant funds.18

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council
of the City of Carlsbad on the 16th day of June, 2009, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Kulchin, Hall, Packard and Blackburn.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
